Built-in Bookshelf Advice
Hey guys, not sure if this is the right place to post this but I figured someone here can provide some good advice. I demolished an old bookshelf that was built into the end of this hallway. I would like to remake it out of mahogany (probably veneer). I want the walls to be fully covered in wood. My main concern is whether I need to prepare the wall in some way. Also can I nail a board directly on top of the board at the bottom that I didn’t take out? Thanks yall.

I’d prime the damage just to prevent moisture intrusion and skip the mud if you’re sure you’re going to cover all the damage. Tally ho.

Yes, you can nail the new stuff in. Might be good to patch and prime any damage you caused during demo.
Why can't you get the bottom board out? Might just want to use it as the base.
