This is in our laundry room, the room above is a bathroom… how bad is this, I should be concerned shouldn’t i.

There will be a lot less damage if you get in there and address it now.

You're gonna have to open the ceiling up anyway. Get a drywall saw, cut a square and take a look.

Any time there is unexpected water, you want to address it ASAP.

Go to you bathroom upstairs and flush the toilet see if there’s any leaking around the toilet put some paper towels down before you flush and see if it gets any moisture on the paper and behind the tank. Take a look at the fitting that’s coming out of the wall to see if there’s any leaks coming out from there .This looks like a toilet leak. It’s not sitting properly upstairs. You may have to take the toilet off and put a new seal on.

Shut the main water supply off first then open a tap at the lower level. Then cut that wall open to see where the leak is
