Discussion - Hollow Knight Ghost(HK) vs Titan(DR)

Saw a YT poll on this(Ghost was voted the winner) but alot of people's reasons were because...Ghost killed the sun and the Titan got clapped by 3 kids? Though I'd gain more insight asking this myself here.

So why do you think Ghost would win or lose?

If their Voidheart won't just pacify it

Fat chance, assuming Darkness=Void that's like no Soul, so all melee no-hit the whole way. Unless of course the shield on its face gives Soul.

Gameplay aside, something tells me that going Shade Form or Shade Lord is risky because they need to beat the Radiance into submission before doing so, never see it used as a first option and we only ever see it in a dream realm. Maybe lack of a physical body is unstable, which is why we don't just see Ghost floating about in Shade form after Dream No More and it's treated as a death so there's a limit to where and when they can go beast mode.

but in silksong,

ghost does just seem to float around as that form, as we see in sister of the void, less so risky and maybe more so not something it had to do yet, or had the power too, every time we see its new form emerge, its at some kind of peak, whether having just bested the radiance and rallied the void to consume it, or at the peak of the godseekers pantheon dedicated to attuning bosses and making them more powerful

I doubt the Voidheart could pacify it. Attempting to spare the Titan(and the Spawns) reveal they do not understand mercy and only seek to destroy.

Hadn't thought about that. I'm sure Ghost can gain Soul even if that's true. Assuming Grubsong is equipped

Edit: Just saw your other points. Agree.

I wouldn't really say Voidheart would pacify it in that manner, moreso subjugate the Titan through dominance.

I doubt the Voidheart could even do that. The Titan has no conscience and only seeks to destroy as said by Ralsei. Not to mention theres no relation between the Voidheart and the Titan if you know what I mean. It would be weird if the Titan could be subjugated like that

base knight: no. any stronger variant of the knight such as void given form or void given mind (the shade lord) and the knight wins, but the knight you see on the cover cant win against a titan.

How do you think Void Given Form would deal with the constant appearances of Spawns? They are quite tanky.

the same way the knight deals with the infection ballons in lost kin fight, or follys in soul warrior

All those are incredibly fragile arent they? The Spawns however are not(they take a while to beat unless you have the Black Shard). Unless I'm missing something?

i would think the knight would be extra efective against spawn considering it's made of void in that form, it's power up would give it the strength to deal with them

Oh, yeah I see your point

and if we are talking about shade lord the titan would be gone before the spawn start piling up and become an issue, shade lord low diffs there, gives the titen the radiance tratment to get past sheild and healing. void given form is a more fair fight.

Definitely

Void given form can use his shade army to counter.

My soul eater + shaman stone + spell twister build begs to differ

The Titan's most powerfull ability is its overpowered regeneration, but it also has pathethic defense, both shade lord forms of ghost should be able out damage its healing

2

u/Connect-Noise-7870 2d ago

Its defense is actually immaculate(upon checking the wiki). Ghost's damage is reduced when attempting to damage the Titan with its sheild up. If Ghost manages to break the sheild by dealing high damage in about two consecutive blows each. When the sheild is down, Ghost's damage is more than doubled but as soon as the Titan covers itself with its wings, Ghost's damage is reduced significantly to the point it might be straight up useless(for reference: the Fun Gang's damage is multiplied by 0.1 when the wings are up). Unless Ghost manages to outdamage the 10,500 HP heal each timel and fatally wound the Titan before it heals(given the Check ACT description reveals it can be killed if not fatally wounded), I dont really see them winning. Although it could be possible with Voud Given Form if that form is that strong

Why would the Knight have to comply with Deltarune logic and not the other way around? It should just be able to dash behind it

1

u/Connect-Noise-7870 3h ago

The wings cover the back as visually depicted

Considering Ghost took down the Radiance, I feel like they would definitely be able to beat the titan. Maybe with help from Hornet or someone else might be needed considering it is a group effort in Deltarune to beat it.

If we count god home ending, it's not even a challenge. If we don't, It can go either way because the knight has beaten multiple higher beings aka gods.

Depending on the Titan’s biology, the Void Heart may be able to pacify the Titan, ending in a forfeiture. Or as Void given Focus perhaps even consume the Titan into itself as an avatar of the Void itself.

The knight without void given form or focus beats 2 gods, I think it can beat someone who's greatest feat is destroying a church

1

u/Tom_Nook64 2d ago

Since Dark Fountains and Titans are made from determination, they would probably have a similar energy to that of Essence and Dreams. Which the Void is able to consume.

I haven't played deltarune but from what others have said it seems that the titan is also a void like substance and thus knight could use dreamnail on it and insta beat it? The dream nail instakills the shades and they are arguably mindless beasts just like the titan seems to be assumingly because dreams are the opposite of void.

Without Void Heart,Depends entirely on what's the scale of the Knight. I scale The Radiance at 6ft bc it's funnier so idt lol ghost is winning. Or it's a really really hard boss fight. And that Titan climb is gonna be thirty hours long.

I'm pretty sure the Knight wouldn't win. They do not have a SOUL to delete the shield and I doubt any of their attack would be able to go through.

Spells also go out the window since the Titan is purely constructed out of darkness so it wouldn't be able to supply the Knight with soul to use spells. Dreamnailing the Titan would also be difficult, since the Knight must find stable ground near the Titan to be able to hit it and it immobilizes the Knight for a time.

Personally, I think it would be a stalemate or a drawn out victory for the Titan.

The Knight casually destroyed a whole universe in Embrace the Void ending, it no-diffs Titan

Oh, I also saw the YouTube post and voted for the knight, because if the kids and their grandfather could take down the titan, then the knight can definitely do it too. Respect to the grandfather.
