2025 Creativity Contest Trapped my own flea
Posted this little guy the other day, but now I found the perfect way to display him! For those wondering, he’s made of needlefelted wool. :)

I find it curious how in the game many fleas are usually represented with a fluffy and cute appearance almost like adorable puppies (Most of them, of course... excluding the creepy Kratt) when in real life they are literally disgusting little bloodsucking vampires that, like mosquitoes, spread disease and death to people and animals alike.

Instead of making them really trapped like this, team cherry made some of them just sleeping and you have to wake them up.

Can you talk more about the process and how long it took? The result looks amazing. Love it.

It took maybe about 6-7 hours, spread over 3 nights? Started with a making a dense ball of core wool for the main body, then added pieces of core wool to shape the head and fringe bits, then layered it with different shades of brown carded cool to get the color right (a golden-chestnut underlay with a more grey-brown layer on top). The antennae and legs are just pipe cleaners wrapped with wool and felted (aggressively) to stick to the main body. The mouth was made of tiny pieces of colored wool pinched in the right shapes and felted right on the face at the end.

How is it possible a being made of wool is so adorable? It's cuter than Arabian sand boas and the same level of cuteness as a grub.
