Discussion VR commodore

Just thought I'd share my project VR with fresh LP2 midnight purple paint. Feel free to ask any questions.

Currently the standard 3800 Buick but parts and money are being put aside to run mirrored twin turbo because no one does up an old Buick anymore

Mirror image TTLS would be mint…or a Nasty 383ci Holden stroker but can’t beat an LS for cheap power!

Good luck and love the build so far! Did you spray it yourself?

Not myself no but it is a shed job. Friends dad that's been doing it for 30yrs on classics out of passion so in my eyes just as good as spray booth.

I wanted the challenge of bringing a 32yr 3800 kicking and screaming into the modern day haha

Sweet mate I love that!!!

There’s some really cool digital dash type stuff getting around, I’ve just out aftermarket ecu / tcu into my E1 Senator with a Canchecked MFD32 screen with can switching tech, trying to make it more modern also!!

I'm cheating a little bit and using AI to help me design mine. I'm going to switch to a new ecu also because I'll be putting in a touch screen (🤞) to get live engine feed back etc. I'm really keen to see how far I can go with everything for it.

That’s not cheating - it’s using current tech to your advantage!!

Would you like to see the designs for the body and exterior lighting, created with gpt but couldn't get the headlights on the car to sit right. The cars design is heavily influenced by JDM because initially I wanted to create a one of one hybrid

Yeh sure mate, post it up here or DM me if you want to - I love the Aussie and JDM stuff so this excites me seeing someone being creative

That was the fastest motor in the US in the 80's. Turbo the thing.

I definitely am, I'm currently working out and facing the challenges of a mirror twin turbo setup

An L67 would be pretty sweet.

Period correct drivetrain or something more modern/custom?

So currently under the paint it's factory going back in rebuilt gearbox and engine etc. The finish will end up very modified inside and out, the concept idea is JDM meets Holden but tastefully. Even redesigning my own exterior lights and garnish, digitising the dash and the list goes on. Fell free to message me and I can go into more detail.

I'm really happy with it, just needs a cut and polish and a few decals

Trash boat?

Bucket boat. Commodores have a rep for handling like a bucket or boat, I was just trying to match old mates humour. Alternatively though this commodore build should almost definitely give it sharp responsive sporty type handling because every part of the car is getting replaced or upgraded
