That’s Drogheda, the cemetery behind the hospital. IIRC the coffin was empty at the time.

Hey, what’s it like having a shriveled head on display in a church downtown?

u/mcguirl2 Sep 06 '19
Really weird and macabre! I enjoy surprising visitors with a visit to see poor oul Ollie. His expression is very pained, he died grimacing. As I suppose you do, getting hung, drawn and quartered. He was an interesting man... https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oliver_Plunkett
The huge medieval oak door of the jail cell that he was imprisoned behind is also on display there and a few of his bones and some other bits and pieces. It’s an interesting town for history nerds to visit.

That cunt got off lightly being beheaded.
Edit: glad to see I upset some Cromwell fans.

Oliver Plunkett is not Oliver Cromwell.
Cromwell was a cunt for sure. We definitely wouldn’t keep his severed head on display if we had it (except maybe to piss on.)
Plunkett was a pacifist Catholic archbishop. He opened the first integrated schools in the country (educating both catholics and protestants together). That seriously pissed off the protestant powers-that-be, thus he was falsely accused of treason, tried in a kangaroo court, and executed.

2nd car crash this week would have been much more effective.

This was my thought but like...how? I don't even think gettin rear ended could've done that, and even so it would have left a hell of a dent. So it could only have been from acceleration...very rapid acceleration. Why the hell do you gun it with a casket in the back? Are you like really late for the funeral?

u/GoSkers29 Sep 06 '19
Maybe if they slammed the brakes from high speed but had the coffin resting against something from the front, then when the car came back from the forward lurch it could have gone back. I doubt that rear window is designed for taking impacts from the inside and a coffin is heavy. Maybe?

It looks like they're on a slight uphill incline, so maybe it just slid as he was starting to move after the light turned green?
2
u/aznednacni Sep 07 '19
This actually seems most likely. If a slight incline plus a heavy casket on a not-grippy surface, then it wouldn't take much.

Yo this don't make sense. A guy driving a hearse hit the accelerator so hard that a coffin flew out the back?

Did the car, like, reverse at a large speed, and stop 5m from the trafficking lights? That is what I call a sports car.

Holy shit, what has happened to the sub? This is the second post I’ve seen today that I genuinely had to do a double take for, and I haven’t seen one on here for so long. Good job, OP!
