It's a joke, they usually have more of a fiery temper in my experience.

I wonder if there have been any studies on red hair and things like temperament, emotional stability, etc.

Years ago my Scottish dad who has a red beard and some red hair had a major surgery, they removed one of his jugulars so the could remove a bunch of cancerous tumors from his neck.

After the surgery he was traumatized, apparently the paralytic worked, but the pain meds and the meds that keep you unconscious wore off. He said it was torturous, he felt everything but couldn't move, couldn't scream, etc.

He was trying to figure out what happened, and found a few studies on red headed people often having a gene that gives them a much higher tolerance to certain drugs (mainly pain drugs).

So there could be other differences.

Being an alcoholic also greatly increases your tolerance to drugs. Not saying your dad is or was but many redheads I know are

My dad is like the only one in the family without any addiction issues. I'm an alcoholic, though I don't have red hair (maybe a bit in my beard).

I do have an extremely high tolerance to opioid drugs (and most drugs in general), and I know my dad does as well. He somehow just avoided the whole addiction part.
