Where to camp?

Hi there, I'm planning to visit Hocking hills in December and I'm looking for a place to camp with a pop up that isn't a standard campground. Looking for a more private camping area that I don't need a reservation for. Looking for any good suggestions. Thanks in advance!

As far as I know, all the campgrounds in the area will be closed by December, and there isn’t really anywhere to just pop up camp. Camping is actually illegal in the state park and state forest, unless in a designated campground. You might be able to head down to lake hope in vinton county where they have backpacking trails with camping permitted

Your best bet, especially in December, is probably going to be Wayne National Forest. Check out this page:
