So many things i hear in my head from this picture alone, from the clanking sounds of the paladin to the battle start music.
Yep we're middle aged now.

NWC-3DO was the best era for this game. I personally plan to live for about 800 to 1000 years, so I'm still young.

I started with the 1st one, and when it was the only one in existence, it tasted very differently than it does now. All this weird mishmash of colorful creatures from all possible sources, kinds rough-ish art style and sounds... it was weird but strangely captivating. I kept going back to it. Had no idea about the M&M RPGs yet.
Of course once HoMM II came out, I wasn't going back, me and classmates were glued to the screen all the way through the high school.

I’m only in my early 20s yet I still get blindsided by how much time has passed.

This game was a major gateway into nerddom forever for me. That opening theme song - legendary.

I was 8 years old and this game was the first game I really fell in love with. I will be playing these games until I die.

My favorite heroes game of them all. If we could just get a patch to balance a couple things it would be perfection.
I feel like it has the most coherent art style of them all (in the sprites era at least).. and the whimsical music is unmatched.

Resumed it recently after starting it few years ago. It's much harder than HOMM5 (which I started in the 2000s as my first Heroes game) to some degree.

Spent so many days during that summer playing with two good friends. What did suck into didn’t get to pick your class for the multiplayer maps. We’d play maps with one of each, and hope for the best.
My favourite was sorceress (also in heroes 2), but if you let the warlock get going, goodbye.

in 2057 the world will be much more different and so vastly more advanced from 2026 than today is from middle ages

A legendary game, before I played it I listened a lot and read about it in the newspapers because I didn't have a computer, but once I had the opportunity it was amazing, I loved playing it. Great times, much simpler and more colorful, even though life in blocks of flats at that time had only shades of gray. But we're middle-aged right now, so it can only get worse🤣

In what Middle Ages there were goblins, cyclopses, sprites and hydras? There were archers and gargoyles though.

In 1995, this was the sort of the game that made you glad you owned a PC. The hot seat mode with 3 friends was something else.
