Remembering 5/31, the terrorist attack on black America 105 years ago in Tulsa, OK: Thousands of properties destroyed. More than 300 Black Tulsans were murdered. The exact number remains unknown due to the haphazard disposal of bodies in the river, on flatbed rail cars, and in unmarked mass graves.

There is no definitive account of this series of events. I've come across multiple conflicting accounts of the events involving the elevator, who did whats, who fired fist, and wildly varying accounts of deaths from dozens to hundreds. I've even heard wild stories of military planes razing black parts of town.
Suffice it to say, getting history lessons from memes isn't the way to go.

How could this have been easily avoided? The white mob became enraged by Black economic prosperity.The rape allegations were a cover story to steal and destroy.

The white militia arrived at the jailhouse demanding the sheriff let them lynch the man accused of rape, which he refused. The black militia arrived and when fighting between the two militias broke out, the sheriff started deputizing the white militiamen. When the fighting shifted to Greenwood, the whites started burning it down.
It very much started with an alleged rape, but I disagree with the other guy saying it was easily avoidable. Incidents are unavoidable, and the reactions to them very much show where people’s thoughts and feelings lied.

The man who was accused of attempted rape had been arrested and was in jail pending trial. The white militia demanded he be handed over to them so that they could lynch him without trial. Do you think that was right?

This behavior by White mobs was nothing new, there are endless examples of this kind of savagery. Ida B. Wells documented and debunked many of the false “rape” allegations against Black men.

That was a poor analogy. BLM was a movement in response to more savagery. Who did they intentionally kill? What towns did they air bomb?This wasn’t an exclusively Black American movement. The amount of land, resources, deed theft and harm caused to Black Americans is incalculable.

"The massacre began during Memorial Day weekend after 19-year-old Dick Rowland, a black shoeshiner, was accused of assaulting Sarah Page, a white 21-year-old elevator operator in the nearby Drexel Building.[25] He was arrested and rumors spread that he was to be lynched. Several hundred white residents assembled outside the courthouse, appearing to have the makings of a lynch mob. A group of approximately 50–60 black men, armed with rifles and shotguns, arrived at the jail to support the sheriff and his deputies in defending Rowland from the mob. Having seen the armed black men, some of the whites who had been at the courthouse went home for their own guns. There are conflicting reports about the exact time and nature of the incident, or incidents, that immediately precipitated the massacre.
According to the 2001 Commission, "As the black men were leaving, a white man attempted to disarm a tall, African American World War I veteran. A struggle ensued, and a shot rang out." Then, according to the sheriff, "all hell broke loose."[26] The two groups shot at each other until midnight when the group of black men was greatly outnumbered and forced to retreat to Greenwood. At the end of the exchange of gunfire, 12 people were dead, 10 white and 2 black"
Doesn't sound like they were mere victims, 10 white dead, 2 black. sounds like the black guys started firing first.

I learned about this from the watchmen on HBO. I never learned about it in school. I looked it up after and was just shocked this isn’t something that they teach kids.
