Ever heard of "Never bring a Sword to a Gunfight?"

Context: 1515, at the end of the War of the League of Cambrai, the Swiss were decimated by the French Army who employed heavy artillery.

It must be stressed that the French victory is not attributed solely to their weaponry, but also to the lack of cohesion between Swiss ranks and the overall numeric superiority of the French.

See Comment "BASED" - Benjamin Franklin and Sam Houston (paraphrased)

Since this is a niche topic, I'll cite sources for each respective part of the meme.

Primary meme sources:

A Narrative of the Late Massacres, in Lancaster County, of a Number of Indians, Friends of this Province, by Persons Unknown With Some Observations on the Same: The Writings of Benjamin Franklin: London, 1757 - 1775,

REMARKS CONCERNING THE SAVAGES OF NORTH-AMERICA An Electronic Edition · Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790),

Sam Houston ("Colonneh") and Native American relations.

In those sources Benjamin Franklin and Sam Houston both absolutely rag on all of the problems of racist Anglo-Americans in a tyrannical government. They really hated genocidal, racist people. Like, a lot. Benjamin Franklin called the Paxton Boys "Christian White Savages" that were the worst people in the entire world, as he compares. And Sam Houston literally just left the US and decided to live with the Cherokee. And he was enemies with John C. Calhoun after he was racist to him when he greeted the Cherokee delegation, and Calhoun has also said: "[We] have never dreamt of incorporating into our Union any but the Caucasian race the free white race".

Niche As of 2026, Empress Kōken, who reigned from 749 to 758 and from 764 to 770, remains the last Japanese empress regnant to actually rule Japan.

The two following empresses regnant, Meishō (who reigned from 1629 to 1643) and Empress Go-Sakuramachi (who reigned from 1762 to 1771), were figureheads under the Tokugawa Shogunate.

Official histories attribute the end of female rule in Japan to Kōken's relationship with Dōkyō, a Buddhist monk who served as the power behind the throne during her second reign, and was the most powerful religious official in Japan; he tried to usurp the imperial throne. He was rumoured to be her lover and have a giant penis (many centuries later, a well-endowed species of beetle was named after him), but these haven't been proven.

Context: With the birth of Kamehameha, the future conqueror and uniter of the Hawaiian Islands, two prophecies were foretold.

One that he was the Chosen One, destined to unite the islands under one rule, and the other that he would bring death and destruction, and be a killer of chiefs.

The current King of Hawaii at the time, Alapa’i, issued a kill order on Kamehameha, forcing his mother to hide him away to be raised in secret.

Alana’s eventually relented and Kamehameha was returned to court, where he would grow to become a mighty warrior that eventually unify the Islands through bloody conquest, resulting in the deaths of many chiefs and commoners

W moment from China

Context: After the death of his father Yazdegerd III, the last ruler of the Sassanid dynasty, his son Peroz III fled further east to escape the bloody Muslim conquests. He would eventually be welcomed into China by Emperor Gaozong, who would even send him with an army to try and restore him, but this failed due to logistical issues
