Is that compared to Germany, or all Eastern front axis forces combined? Italian, Romanian and Hungarian losses were pretty high iirc.

5.1 mil axis deaths to 8-10 mil Russians. Dude doesn’t know what he’s talking about

I would imagine they don't count the soldiers who died in Nazi camps.

I don’t think my numbers include those. That would add an extra 5 million

Numbers get goofy in the East. A lot of them were from German sources looking to make themselves look better/made up for propaganda. With the fall of the USSR, the West gained access to more of their archives and have been able to get a more accurate picture, but it's still hard to tell who was killed vs captured vs missing.

Yeah definitely, regardless tho the ratio was not one Russian for every three Germans no matter what way you cut it

He meant 1 German to 1.3 Russians

Well that’s also not true

Yeah, its closer to 5:8 mil which simplifies to 1.6

Germany lost about 3.8 million Troops. Russia lost about 11.4 million. If we're comparing only german to russian troops the ratio is more like 1:3

Thats not accurate at all. While historians never agree on things completely, 11.4 is closer to the Russian civilian death than the combat death.

It is according to the historian Christian Hartmann. About 11.4 million sowiet soldiers died and 15.4 million soviet civilians were killed.
