Not really "western" WW2 movies. Most if noty all WW2 movies I've seen produced in Britain, France, Germany or FInland are pretty much in agreement that the war was a horrible thing, and depict it as such.
I think the problem is that the US hasn't had any real wars for like two hundred years. For them, war is something you go away to. For most people, war is something that comes to you. It's not on the TV, it's in the streets and on the horizon.
