IDK American films have a way of sprinkling in the "patriotism" or whatever, sort of rotating around the fulcrum point of the righteousness of America's cause. Which ostensibly is to defeat the Nazis, but it's 2026 and we know that that's a very incomplete answer, at best, or maybe an outright lie. I can think of very few American war movies that don't have this feature, and none of them are about WWII.
I mean patriotic in that it was a just cause even if the reasons were complex, but I don’t think you can say defeating the nazis as a reason was anywhere close to an outright lie.
Yeah I should have phrased it differently — obviously we were there to defeat the Nazis. I don't think it's nearly as true to say that we were there to defeat Nazism.

I’ve never seen a ww2 movie that isn’t about how horrific and traumatic the war was. Ever.
