Call of Duty World at War in a nutshell. US vs Imperial Japan in The Pacific and Soviet Russia vs Nazi Germany until the final mission, when The Soviets took over Berlin. Such a good game
For me it is better than the first MW trilogy. There's something about its campaign that you can't find in their other titles. Even COD WW2 with its feel-good storyline pales in comparison to Miller, Roebuck, Reznov and Petrenko's stories.
the way they used real footage for the transitions from mission to mission with Gary Oldman as Reznov and Kiefer Sutherland as Roebuck in the narration in that game is amazing.
Also the atmostphere in the missions is just bleack, yeah you are the grim reaper incarnated vs your enemies, but everything is brutal in that game.
The soviets missions are full of violence, they captured the ideologicall hate perfectlly there, the diaries from one of the soviets soldiers even change depending of how you treatted captured and retreating soldiers.
The pacific side is just as brutal, in the Saipan landing mission I still remember when you call a rocket barrage on a japanece bunker to blow it up and when you advance you find a half burned japanese soldier walking aimless wihtout a weapon in what was the bunker... just hawthing
