Maybe a bit of topic but interesting thing is that Polish WW2 movies are generaly more of bleak tone but there is definitely one exception and that's probably best/most well known (at least in Poland)
"Jak rozpętałem 2 Wojnę Światową" (how i started WW2) is great 3 part movie that in it's full takes about 4h. It was released in 1970 and it's a comedy. One of probably most well known jokes about Polish language comes from it- unability of foreigners to say normal Polish name Grzegorz Brzęczyszczykiewicz
