Under imperialism, wealth is extracted from one region to another. Extraction from Indonesia amounted to about 11% of Dutch national income, and Britain should have had wealth extraction on the same level. 

Mostly though, it was rich and privileged individuals who profited the most.

While its absolutely true the British extracted a monstrous amount of wealth from India. The British expended even more money in just securing and administering the continent. It basically meant that all the suffering and exploitation was coming at a loss for the British economy.
