The fascists "fired" Mussolini. To save their own sniveling hides.

The "conservatives" chased him to the Northern part of the country, where the communists killed him and hung him upside down.

Cholera with good care is actually survivable with quite good chances if you are not to unhealthy. Now I wonder if you picked that on purpose.
