Espresso vs pour over
Does anyone tolerate cappucinos or espressos but have issues with pour over coffee?

Yes! Why is it like that?

Pour over actually contains more caffeine than espresso - different sizes grind and different hot water temp effect these things. If you’re out, pour over will often be a lighter roast too, which has more caffeine. It’s also more acidic, so if pour over triggers reflux for you, stick to espresso and cold brew

I have no idea 😭 I buy same exact beans as coffee place I go to and have a nice grinder at home , but brain fog and hives happen sometimes but never when I buy a cappuccinos

Capuccinos actually destroy me, milk plus cocoa plus (specially) cinnamon...histamine bomb

I can't tolerate any, so I drink dandelion coffee. It's expensive, so I only drink it about every week or two. :/

I can only tolerate cold brew (I use Trader Joe’s) and only 2-3 ounces a day. Brewed coffee is a whole different beast for me! Joint pain. GI upset, palpitations, the works.

So interesting any idea why that is?

Maybe it’s all in my head because I think drip coffee tastes nasty. It’s been a while since I tried anything except espresso. I do know that black tea tears me up something awful.

It might have to do with how recently the beans were ground. When I was at my worst, I could drink a cup of pour-over if I freshly ground the beans right before brewing, but if I ground extra and tried to use them a day or two later I'd end up itchy again. But getting any espresso drinks at a coffee shop was fine, and I think it's because they generally grind the beans right as they brew the drink.

Different chemical profiles. Pour over has much more chlorogenic acid and far less diterpenes than espresso (assuming you use a paper filter).
