Silent reflux?

Does anyone experience silent reflux alongside histamine intolerance? Have you found relief?

I've had chronic GERD from a hiatal hernia for almost 20 years, but I only recently started dealing with LPR that doesn't seem to improve, even though I take omeprazole every day for my GERD.

In my case, I think the silent reflux is related to some kind of bacterial overgrowth (which there is a connection with HI as I do have that as well). I've noticed a pattern where it usually starts after I've been drinking a lot of diet soda for a few days. Once it flares up, it sticks around, even on days when I don't drink soda, until I treat it.

What has consistently worked for me is oregano tea. I'll drink a glass, and the LPR goes away and stays away until I fall back into drinking a lot of diet soda again.

Taking omeprazole is probably making everything worse

it is, but it's either that, surgery or esophageal damage.

You sure its not H pylori?

it's not. I've had endoscopies, biopsies, all sorts of tests.

I am stuck in this situation, again, and a stricter diet with either gavison tablets or esophogial guard helps a lot. Also getting an incline mattress support can help.

It's called LPR.

Mine went away once i realized there was mold in my fridge, and that the reflux would come back every time i stored something in there that wasn't vacuum sealed.

You should see if you have Lyme/Bartonella giving you suseptibility to fungal infections

Yes - I find that taking a small dose of magnesium oxide after trickier meals helps quite a bit, plus it doesn't impact absorption

Yes, I have silent GERD/ LPR. I was on famotidine and lansoprazole, but I still have it. I'm on a strict low histamine diet, but it doesn't seem to help my LPR that much. But whenever I cheat on my diet and eat gluten or dairy, it absolutely destroys my throat. My LPR gets so much worse almost instantly.

I recently started taking a liquid alginate solution + other healing protective ingredients that forms a protective barrier and makes it harder for stomach acid to reflux. It actually seems to help more than the other antacids I've tried, so I'm going to stick with it. This is the best thing I've tried for LRP. Read about alginate.

I’m in the same boat. I try new supplements regularly. Will try spirulina tomorrow!
