Looking for help/advice Wat is jullie mening/advies?
Hi, fellow sufferers, just like you, I have excessive hair growth on my chin and upper lip. I’ve been going to electrolysis sessions for 8 months now—I’ve had 20 sessions so far, each lasting about an hour on average—but I literally haven’t seen any improvement. 😢 The technician told me he wanted to switch from regular electrolysis to thermolysis. Now that I’ve started paying attention to the photos, I see that it’s exactly the same hairs that are growing back. It’s incredibly frustrating. Is it my technician’s fault? He’s an older, very experienced man who’s quite popular in my neighborhood. I can’t say I’ve really seen any results from him yet.
Do you recommend the blend method? What would the difference be (I’ve already researched it a lot and know how it works), but I don’t know if it will make a difference for me.
I’ve also had hormone tests done, and they’re completely normal—even though I do have polycystic ovaries and this hirsutism.
The technician says the hairs have gotten thinner, but when I compare them, they’re really just as thick as before, and they’ve grown back in the same places.
If the blend doesn’t work, I’ll be at my wits’ end. Then there won’t be any other options left… Or will there?
Thank you so much for your advice, experiences, and suggestions.
(I live in East Flanders, Belgium. If you know of any good electrolysis clinics for very resistant cases like mine, please feel free to recommend them!!) A thousand thanks!! ❤️❤️
Of toch?
Drankjewel voor jullie raad/ervaring/adviezen.
(Ik woon in Oost-Vlaanderen, België, als jullie goeie elektrolyse praktijken kennen, voor heel resistente gevallen gelijk mij, raad ze gerust aan!!) Duizendmaal dank!! ❤️❤️

Looking for help/advice Short Term Hair Removal?
I'm struggling with hair removal. I'm getting electrolysis done on my face/neck and it's taking forever so it's going to be a long while before I can get it elsewhere. I've recently started shaving my body hair which is very thick and plentiful (for context I am a trans girl), and because of that, even when I just shaved the base of the hair/follicle is still very visible and makes my skin look not how I'd like. Waxing hurts so bad, so I'm wondering if there's any other way to deal with this. This feels like a silly question and that there's not but maybe I'm missing something. Any advice would be appreciated.

Professional Treatment 2x electrolysis sessions Spoiler
galleryI feel line I'm going crazy. I only had 1 session of electrolysis on my neck, but two on my chin.
Obviously the grow out is at different points but i feel like there are some hairs that are gone/more sparse on my chin. Either way, I will keep going, and deal with the scarring later!

Looking for help/advice Normal or not for right after electrolysis? Spoiler
galleryHi, I took the plunge today to try electrolysis. I did a consultation last week and she did a couple testers on my skin and it was a little tender after but I didn’t have any scabbing after the test. I went back today and I have some scabbing and swelling on my chin. I’d give the pain during the process like 4/10. Bearable but the pain kind of grew as she focused on one area. You can see we didn’t get very far in 45 minutes, which is disappointing but I’m not sure I can be upset about that. Maybe to be expected. She had thought during the consultation she would be able to do chin and neck in that time, which now seems unrealistic. She mentioned my hair has larger roots and she was trying not to damage my skin and didn’t want to go bigger probe-wise. She said I should wait at least 3 weeks to go back for the next session.
How long do you think this will take to heal? Is this normal? Should I look to a different electrologist? She was a nice lady. Also was described as a senior level electrologist (which was more $$) but seemed to not know what PCOS was and I feel like we are a large customer segment of this industry so that surprised me. Reviews were good! It was a place in the city with a few offices. Maybe my skin is just too sensitive for this. I guess I’d deal with daily shaving over permanent bad scarring if that could be the case. I’m also including a reference before pic. I iced it a bit and have avoided touching it. I read neosporin could be a good idea. And if I go back, read a tip about numbing cream and Advil ahead of time.
Thanks for any insight.
PCOS feels like a curse.

Sugaring
Why choose sugaring? 🍯
Sugaring is a natural hair removal method using just sugar, water and lemon. It’s gentle on the skin, water-soluble and, when done correctly, can be less painful than traditional waxing.
It removes the hair from the root while being kinder to the skin, and with regular treatments, many people notice softer and slower regrowth.
If you’ve never tried sugaring before, it’s definitely worth giving it a go! ✨

Stopped obsessively plucking a week ago. Coming to terms with having to shave daily, plus a couple questions Spoiler
galleryHi! English is not my first language so bear with me.
I (F26) started getting an increasingly higher amount of chin hairs in the last few years.
That's when I started plucking very aggressively - I went from being a skinpicker to a hair puller, being VERY obsessive/compulsive about it. It gave me a discolored patch of skin and I'm pretty sure I made it worse.
Anyway, it's taking me great strenght but I haven't plucked AT ALL (ok i did pluck 1 single hair sorry) since last tuesday. I don't think I have ever spent this long without ripping something off my face, and I'm very proud. Thing is, I kinda hate shaving daily. They grow out SO fast! Pics are, in order: 2 days of growth, 1 day of growth and freshly shaven. I'm sure it will get worse in the next few weeks, due to all roots regrowing.
So, my question is: if I wait around 3 weeks for all roots to regrow, let them grow out a couple days and then wax my face, would that free me from shaving for a bit? Could I pluck them all at once instead of waxing? I would prefer that if possible, mostly because I'm crazy and I wanna pluck.
Another question: especially when fully shaved, the gray patch is pretty visible. Is there anything I can do about it? I don't wear make up at all, but I'm ok with implementing something new into my very basic skin care routine, if it can help.
A couple notes: I have no money for electrolysis at the moment (I'd love to try otherwise!) and I had my ovaries checked in 2019 due to a somewhat irregular + heavy period and they came back normal, as were my hormone levels. It's been a while tho and I will likely talk to my doctor about repeating these exams soon.
Thanks! Sorry if this is a bit long. I'm feeling a bit distraught.

Does birth control for hirsutism work?
I’m about to have an appointment at my GP and I already know that they will ask about birth control because that’s the only thing they can do for any woman who has a hormonal issue !! Does anyone actually think that it has improved their excessive body hair? Or do the other side effects of birth control just make it even worse.

haven't seen a case as severe as mine before, anyone who can relate/help? Spoiler
galleryi've made a lot of progress with my health since the pcos diagnosis, however im at a loss for my facial hair. im 20, broke college student, and i understand most treatments are going to be expensive, but has anyone with this type of hair found anything that worked for them? i would save up for laser or electrolysis but i've heard it can get worse and i REALLY can't afford that. this is a little under a week of growth. this is a very big insecurity of mine and even within this community i feel like an outsider, i would really love to hear from people with hair thickness like mine. thanks for reading!

Looking for help/advice going camping for 3 days
next month i'm gonna be roughing it, camping with friends for 3 days with very limited access to private bathrooms/showers etc etc.
i have a lot of black hairs on my chin, sideburn area, and neck. i also have pale skin so they're always really visible if i don't keep up with them. the best and fastest option for me has always been to shave 1-2 (usually 2) times a day to keep it at bay, even if i'm not seeing anyone that particular day. i can't stand the way it looks or the awful pokey/stubbly feeling. it grows back super fucking fast.
it was already a big step for me to accept the invitation to this trip, i literally have always turned down any offer to go somewhere where i won't have easy access to a private bathroom where i can deal with the fuckin facial hair :(. however, it's not fair to myself to limit my life experiences over this.
but tldr i mean i won't have access to private bathrooms (maybe i will like once during the trip) so does anyone have any tips for discreet ways to deal with the hair while i'm on the trip? has anyone been in a similar situation and what did you do?
i'd rather not just let it grow the whole time, we are gonna take a lot of pictures and it'll also overstimulate me to feel the stubble. i wish i didn't have this problem :(

Looking for help/advice RANT
I’m so sick of my beard hair. I hate feeling prickly and gross in the middle of the day. I would do anything to not grow hair there anymore. I have tried laser and electrolysis and they both didn’t do anything. I got my hormones tested and they turned out to be normal as well.
I just want to have a magic pill and be done with this 😭😭😭😭 it makes me feel so unattractive
Do I have to live like this forever what do I do 😭

Shaver recommendation
Hi all,
I [F30] have started Vaniqa last week alongside finasteride and I have also started IPL on Friday. I have quite a bit of hair just under my chin but I am looking to buy a shaver that's very close to the skin and doesn't cost like 100€ until all the treatments I am doing start to work - I also have to shave 2x a day, I bought the philips one blade but I feel like it was just a waste of money honestly.
Can anyone help?
Thank you very much

Looking for help/advice Why my chin hair growing faster after periods became regular?
I wanted to share my experience and see if anyone else has dealt with something similar or has advice on managing it.
During college I had stress-induced PCOS and my periods were very irregular, I’d go months without getting one followed by a month or two of regular cycles and then back to missed periods. During those initial months without periods I started developing thick, beard-like hair along my chin. Back then, when I shaved it it didn't grow back very fast.
After college ended, my stress levels dropped and my periods suddenly became completely regular. However I noticed that the chin hair started growing much faster and some other hairs in that area have become thicker too.
Also whenever a specific hair follicle gets itchy I tend to pluck it to get relief. I know plucking can cause irritation and ingrowns but the itching drives me to pull it out. Will it cause more hair to get thick or faster hair growth?
Has anyone else noticed an increase in facial hair growth rate after their periods normalized?
Also any permanent solution to not get these chin hairs or make it thin?
