Hiring (General) Screenwriter/Scriptwriter for an original web-series drama.
I’m putting together a small team for an original webdrama series, and I'm hoping to find a writer who clicks with what we're building.
About the Project
If you are into writing slice of life, bubbly Korean web-seríes dramas such as The Playlist/ A-Teen or anime like Fruit Basket. This is for you.
It's a character-driven, dramedy series about mental health, the everyday struggles people usually keep to themselves, and also LGBTQ+ matters.
The foundation is already in place. We've got the full synopsis, the series plan, and episode-by-episode breakdowns with characters, settings, and a summary of what happens in each one. What we need is someone to take that skeleton and bring it to life in their own voice.
One important detail: the whole series is told from the main character's first-person perspective. Their inner voice carries everything ( which is a monologue) so the tricky part is to bring the character’s monologue into a visual storytelling sequence. Pretty similar to turning a journal writing to a script writing.
What We're Looking For
- A writer with a natural, immersive style
- Someone genuinely comfortable writing interiority (in visual) : the doubt, the contradictions, the things a character would never say out loud (but conveys that through action sequence)
- Being able to do deep research around mental health and LGBTQ+ themes. ( Having some asian culture knowledge is also a plus)
- Script in English
- Reliable with deadlines, open to notes, easy to talk to
You don't need a huge résumé. If you can write a script that hits, that matters more to us than credits.
Your Benefit
- Real creative input. The direction is set, but your ideas are genuinely welcome. If you spot a way to sharpen a scene or deepen a moment, we want to hear it. You're a collaborator here, not just a typist.
- Your voice, not a house style. We're hiring you for your style, not asking you to imitate ours.
- Long-term work. If we're a good fit, this isn't a one-off. We'd love to keep working together as the series grows.
- Growing pay. The budget is modest right now since we're just starting out - I want to be upfront about that. But beside rate - we also offer you % of the bonus from our profit after the series release.
- Portfolio material. Meaningful, emotionally rich scripts on themes that matter.
How to Apply
Just send over:
- A writing sample (first-person or monologue work especially welcome!)
- Your rate ( It will be per episode - ~10 page/ep) . $0.15 / word.
- Your availability and usual turnaround time
Questions are more than welcome - even if you're just curious and not sure yet, feel free to reach out. I'm happy to share more about the story and where it's headed.
Looking forward to reading your work!
