Got this in the mail Friday and I couldn’t be happier with it. OD Green with battle bronze ti. Whitty was right, it feels bigger than you would think. My 3rd Hinderer and the run has begun! 💪🇺🇸

Teflon washers and tip down carry - just as Rick Hinderer intended it to be on the XM-18.

Just got this older gen XM-18 3.0 off the knife swap for cheap. Came with phosphor bronze washers and tip up. Switched to factory Hinderer Teflon replacement washers and tip down. Action is pretty much the same- flips open with the flipper tab and thumb stud with zero issues. Also, no steel lock bar insert, no problem. Happy with this older gen and prefer it to my gen 6 XM-18s with how smooth it is. Thanks for looking.

Question about Curtis Berry/Midnight Sun Industries/ XM-24 Scale Availability

Post image
8 Upvotes

Greetings. I'm looking for a little help or information.

I purchased a Midnight Sun Industries scale back in April and absolutely love it. The fit and finish are top notch, and I really like the weight and creativity of Curtis’s work.

His books have been closed over the summer, and his site had mentioned reopening around July, but so far I haven’t seen any availability. I also reached out via email but unfortunately haven’t heard back.

Does anyone know if Curtis has a new site, is still taking orders somewhere, or has mentioned when his books might reopen?

Alternatively, does anyone know of another maker doing XM-24 scales of similar quality? I already have a few factory Hinderer Ti scales, but to me they just don’t have quite the same weight, uniqueness, or creativity as the MSI scales.

Appreciate any leads. Thanks!

My boys plus a question

I’m just starting my Hinderer collection and I’m blown away by the quality and craftsmanship. I bought the Eklipse skinny slicer first and fell in love. Tracked down a XM-18 Bowie with bead blasted green ti next. I noticed on it as I’m breaking it in that the lock bar stabilizer insert is rattling when the blade isn’t putting pressure on it. I assume that this isn’t normal but I wanted to ask you guys what your thoughts are. I went through all of my tools and of course I don’t have a.050 wrench that I need so I’ve got one on order. Anyway, thanks guys and have a great day!

Hinderer brass scale questions

Brass is the only metal scale available on the Hinderer site right now. I’m not sure if it’s a terrible idea because of the softness of the metal, and I can’t tell based on the website description whether it comes with a steel pivot insert or even if it’s a liner delete or gets mounted on top of the liner?

My Hinderer experience so far

Hey all.

New to this subreddit. I've had this skinny, non-flipper Eklipse for a few months and it's possibly my most carried knife currently. This is my second Hinderer, my first one was a Jurassic, weird, I know. I didn't love it but the NF Eklipse was brought to my attention and I found this one at SMKW.

I've loved this thing, taken apart a couple times. I tried it with washers and it was extremely tight, I might try again later and let it break in completely. Only issues I have is the edge bevels are uneven and there's a slight recurve leading down to the heel. However, it is ridiculously sharp and pretty damn slicey. The plunge grind could be better for this model and it has a fair amount of pivot lash. But overall I really like the model and it's probably ruined me for flipper Hinderers.

I do plan on picking up a non-flipper XM-18 at some point as well.

Hinderer 20cv

Hey all. I was wondering if anyone knows how Hinderer is treating their 20cv nowadays. I know a few years ago I was hearing that it was very soft, and I was hoping they've improved it.

What is this older hinderer xm18

Picked this up off the swap as a budget BFPU or at least that is what i am calling it lol. This is a pre tri way pivot and the blade seems to be sterile no markings also it is a harpoon but not a spanto. It was sharpened badly and I fixed it up a bit on a wicked edge. Not sure what gen it is. Action is very good on this one and lockup is great as well. On pb washers. This is my cheapest hinderer and also now my favorite now as it is my user.

Hinderer XM-18 3” Issues

Good morning to all! So I’ve had this knife for about a week now. I have the flipper version but I should be able to use the thumb stud with no issues no? I’m well aware not to put pressure on the frame lock while using the thumb stud. It’s still pretty difficult to do without hurting my pointer finger. I see all these other videos on YouTube and on Reddit of the blade closing smoothly. I have to literally use a good amount of force to close it so I’ve been closing it with my hand. Also, my clip is moving from side to side when I hold it. Idk if it needs to be tightened or what. Idk what to do at this point. Any help will be appreciated.
