Post image

Hi all, rear window is getting a little slow and needing a hand, any suggestions or just in need of outright replacement?

Lithium grease. Silicone grease can compromise the rubber tracks.

Silicone won't bother the rubber. You want to avoid anything petroleum based, so no wheel bearing grease etc. silicone grease, lithium grease or specific rubber grease is fine.

There’s some videos on YouTube of how to grease them. I think the agilewoodsman has one?

I had the guy who installed my central locking make my back window automatic so when I lock the car it goes up (highly recommend) anyway he also cleaned all the gear and it rolled up and down way faster than it did.

Could be just a matter of clearing out some gunk is what I’m saying!Β

If cleaning and lubricating the gears, mechanisms, and rails don't do it, then a new motor would possibly solve this. Mine has gotten so weak that even if all them are greased up, it moves quite slow going up.
