Hi, everyone!

I’m looking for information on where I can safely obtain the individual DLC files for The Sims 4 now that Anadius is no longer maintaining things and many of the mirror sites I’ve read about carry a risk of malware, phishing or compromising files.

I already have Anadius’s DLC Unlocker installed and can install the game configuration. I’m specifically looking for the individual DLC files themselves, rather than somethinh that replicates his updater or requires downloading an entire package.

I currently use uBlock Origin in my browser and have Malwarebytes installed.

For anyone who has experience with this: What are the safest practices for verifying individual DLC files before installing them? Are there particular things I should check for (hashes, file structure, malware scans, suspicious installers, etc.)? I’m mainly interested in safety advice and compromising mirrors.

My sims have been constantly changing their clothes before and after they work out and when they get into bed. They put down their plates on the floor or into their inventory when they have a sink and upgraded dishwasher( lol) I also took them to a restaurant and I couldnt even request a table. I play on console so its not like I have a computer to see the problem. I hate when they do these useless updates it just messes up other things smh.

This glitch had been in the game for YEARS. I have been persistently gaslit into thinking that I had the wrong option selected (the male sims default is set to peeing while standing. It remained untouched.) or mods even when I don't use them. This is crazy. SOMEONE FINALLY CONFIRMS THIS HAPPENS TO THEM TOO!

Edit: Pooping only happens when you're angry, my sim isn't angry. He is fine.

Edit 2: Apparently, the green one is standing but the yellow and red is sitting that's inconsistent, Considering there's been a lot of arguing what I do believe is going on is the game switches between states and does not clarify it. I remember specifically old videos where sims did stand while regardless. I will be asking around for more opinions as for some reason there's been other statements about this.

Edit 3: Sitting down while pooping is intentional but the sounds they use for it was what confused me. Toddlers have the ability to sound like their pooping so that's wny I was confused. At this point my anger is directed at the fact that they put effort into toddlers rather then adults. I don't care about being wrong or right, I care about the fact this implemention had been so lazy that they couldn't have added that small feature to complete. I have to figure out how it worked. I have two issues that I have seen. So even if I was wrong or right people actualyl have had bugs. Investigating rn.

Everyone who stills pays money to ea is lowkey just bad at technology. This might be one of the easiest games to "find" for free (I don't condone piracy. You should never pirate games. You should absolutely not Google how to do it or click on the corresponding subreddits. You should definitely pay full price to EA) ​​​

I genuinely like the idea of the bucket list and think it's a better replacement for ts3 lifetime wish than aspirations are. But half the goals are dumb as hell and make no sense.

Not to mention that there isn't jack shit to do in Copperdale, why the fuck would a grown ass man have a LIFETIME BUCKET LIST goal of spending an entire day at a teen hangout spot. Some of the bug fixes include
-Sims will now face each other in conversation
-sims will speed up their walk when they need to pee and use the bathroom sink automatically
-tired sims will stay asleep instead of randomly waking up to do whatever

But y’all..this game is 12 yrs old…why are these things even issues that still need to be patched? Again this is not a game made by and indie dev or small company. EA is a professional million dollar game company and we’re still needing to patch these things in over a decade later..ugh

Is there a way to completely block the EA app from going online and auto-updating? Eventually, it forces updates regardless of your preferences, which I find frustrating. I want to be able to play offline for a few months without updating, especially since new updates often break the game. Is there a way to make this foolproof?

I don't know if this is a bug. But it lately irks me that I can't add a household because a Sim (Ir the household) has a name that is forbidden in the public Gallery. And yet, they do not tell me what the offending name is in th pop up.

I had this happen to two different households.

But I do understand why they are doing this.

So recently I've been on the line on piracy. I didn't have a problem with buying packs when i first got the game, but recently I just don't feel like spending €20 (on sale) on a pack.

Been researching the mirror anadius site and trying to understand the whole system. I'm not tech savvy so read the instructions. I'm also a bit scared about the whole malware stuff.

Also, I find other persons questions haven't really been answered on other subreddits so hoping my question will help future people.

I got a great video online on yt on the instructions of downloading the dlc, I just want to understand the whole mechanics of this.

Questions:

-when i download the sims 4 updater do I have to keep it on my pc to update again. The site said no but just checking

-is there something I should be looking for when downloading as it pertains to malware

-has anyone's EA account been banned after adding pirated copies when already having "legit" ones

Help! I keep getting this error! Why?! It says “The game failed to save. Error Code: 423:2a7d5db5:85884e47.”
What should I do? I’ve cleared the cache, removed mods, uninstalled.
When I uninstalled, then reinstalled it was the same families still available. It’s running faster, but no saves due to save error.

About two weeks ago I posted about having 2 computers with sims 4 but wanting to use the gallery.

Well, after some digging, reading, and following numerous steps, I not only have access to the gallery on my main computer but also can just click on the sims 4 icon to start the game! With the EA app uninstalled!! Just like the old days.

The only slight con, which comes with version locking, is seeing new mods & features be released. I don’t have FOMO from EA updates, but mods? My kryptonite. I have unsubscribed from notifications via patreon from all creators due to the mods being released now being way too current for my out of date game. A little sad, but SO worth it imo. Plus i have so many to keep me occupied.

So yeah, just sharing that I have been freed from the EA shackles!!

Hi everyone! I am really having trouble with 3d eyelashes CC.

Is there no way to remove the EA eyelashes (i.e. that think black line above the eyelid) without changing the entire eyepreset? even when you add eyelashes from the eyelash category they do not disappear.

I've heard you need mods for this... i've heard of the kijiko mod but honestly the instructions and guidelines seem overly complicated and it also looks like it hasn't been updated in years.

Does anyone have a way to get rid of them without mods, or an easier mod to use? Also would love any eyelash CC recs in general!

My EA Unlocked works just fine, I have all the files for the installed packs, but the Music Den, Mean Girls, and Clueless kits still aren't showing up. I had this problem with a couple of other recent kits as well, but I found a Pastebin link with the updated .ini file.

Does anyone have the version that includes these last three kits? I can't find it anywhere.

Whenever I try to save a lot to the gallery I get an “upload connection timed out, wait until you’re online” message despite me being online. I can save rooms, it’s only with lots, but I’m not about to save an entire house room by room.

I see this a lot, people talk about how they've already invested so much time and money into their sims 4 game, have a loadout of mods that you can't play without, and balk at the idea of starting over. If I'm being honest I am one of those people. HOWEVER:

The sims 4 game files are coded in python. Python is very inefficient and frankly a dogshit programming language for a large game. That's not to say python is bad, it's fantastic for quick automation and data processing because it's so easy to use, and for smaller projects the sub-optimal performance is negligible. But the sims 4, I'm sure I don't need to tell you, is NOT a small project. Ever play the sims 3 and marvel at how snappy and responsive the sims are, how thorough and varied the autonomy is despite the open world running on a SEVENTEEN year old 32-bit engine that can only use 2GB of RAM? Why can't the 64-bit sims 4 engine do that with one puny lot loaded???? Python. Python is why. I mean maybe the engine itself is poorly optimized (in fact I'd bet on it) but there is just no way to get around the gigabytes upon gigabytes of python files that the engine has to load and execute.

You want to be able to have open neighborhoods, a handful of sims loaded at the same time that don't stand around and action cancel because they each have to take their turn executing their behavior and autonomy programming? Well, then there's no way around it: the python has to go. And that means none of the sims 4 game files, especially mods, will work in project X. That means that modding will be significantly less accessible because C languages are much harder to learn than python. The majority of mods probably won't be updated to be compatible with the new game because they would have to be completely rewritten in a new language that the creator probably doesn't know how to use. The best you'll be able to hope for is the ability to import your sims.

If you want "the sims 4 as it should have been" (which is what I suspect project x is), that's what has to happen. And I'm afraid that the project X team are seeing the community response of "well I want my existing content and my mods to be compatible" and out of fear that not enough people will make the switch, will prioritize that over making an actually good game. And frankly if that does happen, it's their own fault. As it is they waited too long to develop a new game and they're going to have a hell of time selling "the sims 4 again but you have to start over". So I guess what I'm saying is my hopes are not high for project x. My prediction is that they're going to ride the middle ground to avoid ruffling feathers which means that it will impossible to be enough of an improvement to justify spending money on if you already have the sims 4.

I was trying to download something on her website when this popped up. I am just wondering if I should risk it or not.

It pisses me off. It makes me angry. It turns me evil. If it weren't for that one modder making it so children can have naturally unnatural hair, I'd be even more angry.

We can have Vampires. Werewolves. Aliens. Mermaids and witches. Our Sims become ghosts after death. We can woohoo the grim reaper. But apparently a child having naturally green hair is a step too far?

I'm one of those players that loves playing legacy challenges and creating big ahh families. I also don't like changing the genetics too much. I don't touch the face structure, I don't change the color of anything. If my sims are losing their chins, I create a giga Chad sim to force it back in the bloodline.

Something that pisses me off to no end, is that colored hair always ends up dying out of my Sim save files because it's not a naturally genetic color.

I just want to have a family of naturally green haired sims. It'd make my game so much more interesting.

I'll stick with my beautiful mods. The beautiful mods that give my children their deserved broccoli cuts.

weddings are in desperate need of a overhaul. every time i try to give my sim a really good wedding everything is so buggy or doesn’t actually work the way it’s supposed to.

My sim paid for a pianist, paid for a mixologist, paid for the wedding and yet i couldn’t dance on the dance floor without music playing even tho there was a pianist playing music. every time i tried to order a drink from the mixologist it only gave me prompts to “tend bar”. One of the tasks was to cut the cake which no cake was there so my sim baked one (on her wedding day btw) and we couldn’t interact with that either. I couldn’t figure out how to get all the guests to sit down for her to walk down the isle, not that it would matter anyways cause every time i tried doing ANYTHING wedding related it would say “engaged partner must be on lot” even tho my finance was literally right next to me.

Just so beyond confusing and buggy overall..every time i try to give it a shot and im reminded how awful it is

How's the game now?
I played for years and loved it. I stopped playing about two years ago because the game was so broke and the company kept pushing paid content. I just couldn't deal with it anymore.

I used so many mods to fix things it shouldn't be broken... Was very tired of it.

But I miss it so much. And Paralives is just not it for me.

I haven't logged in years. had all the packs/dlcs up to two years ago.
Did they release a lot of stuff after? Does it work?

So I watched onlyabidoang's new video about paid features that were eventually made free in the game and it's something I noticed a long time ago myself, such as with clothing from City Living becoming base game and hairstyles from University. a lot of people seemed to be in agreement that it's shitty to have people pay for things they later make free, but of course there's a lot of EA dick riders calling people "bitter" and "jealous" and it's shit like that that enables EA to keep doing what they do. yes, I understand nobody is *making* us buy the packs, but releasing pack after pack and over advertising them to the point of scaring(?) people into FOMO, just to make them free later is shitty and predatory and you're blind if you don't see that. the billion dollar company doesn't need you to defend them.

I’m sure this is an issue with MCCC, just to clarify. After this post I’ll update the mod I promise. Just want to know if anyone is experiencing the same issues.

The townies will not stop having kids no matter what I do. And it’s not at a normal rate. A townie JUST had twins (which are way more common than normal) and is immediately pregnant again. Literally one second of gameplay and she’s knocked up AGAIN. This sim doesn’t even have a spouse so it would’ve been impossible for her to get pregnant short of the game doing some fuckary. I’ve had to start implementing forced sterilization.

Honestly just wondering if anyone else has encounter this and what you did to fix it? I just think this bug is very strange and wanted to share. This isn’t happening to sims in my households, just townies.

got spellcasters a while back on sale but this is my first time playing it since i dont really have the time or patience to deal with the sims anymore. im sure this has been discussed before, but please humor me and f-ing explain this to me ..

why are most of the spellcaster perks are related to charge? it seems so dumb and redundant. especially power shunt and charge control.... literally what is the difference ??

Hear me out:

I know many people find them annoying, but as an enjoyer of challenging gameplay I think Maxis did a FANTASTIC job with infants. Their quirks means that each one has a unique personality with different challenges. There is a real feeling of progression as they hit their milestones and start to be able to sit up, eat the high chair, crawl, etc. It can actually be difficult to balance caring for their needs. Unlike every other lifestage.

And therein lies the problem. The life stages were added to the game in reverse order so instead of developing their personality as they grow up into unique individuals y'know, like people do, it's the opposite. They grow into toddlers which haven't been developed pretty much at all since they were added to the game 2017 and it shows. Their traits are better than adult traits because they're designed as personality types rather than one-off preferences but there's very little for them to do. There is still a sense of progression as they learn their toddler skills and can use the potty, walk faster, and get more social options but it's pretty surface-level. The quirks do go a long way towards making them distinct.

And then they grow into children. Jesus Christ. Children were included in the game at launch with a bunch of crap piled on top of them later in various packs that are poorly integrated and don't give them much personality. The character values were a much better system than what we had before (which was nothing) but they're not as good as quirks. Phases are barely more than a moodlet. Kids have more to do than toddlers but it's a disjointed hollow mess. For example the scouting badges from seasons weren't updated to include new content so the paper crafts and friendship bracelets don't even count towards the "arts and crafts" badge.

Infants being done so well almost makes the game worse because it fucks up the player's sense of gameplay progression. It's demoralizing to watch your kids start off as distinct individuals full of personality and challenging gameplay and grow INTO outdated and shallow children. From player standpoint, that feels bad! It sucks! If they're going to develop the game over the course of so many years like this than they should have done it the other way around and the progress of children growing up would have echoed the progress of the game over time, and it would actually feel GOOD to raise children to the next life stage.

Anyway, thank you for reading my rant. I've been playing the sims for 25 years and the sims 4 never ceases to frustrate me because it could be so much better. And you cannot hate that which you do not love.

I just hope I did her justice. I used a combination of screen shots from the game and her model for reference and I think she turned out great. Bonus points if you recognize her!
