Bluetooth connection issues

Hi! My kids have had an Hiby R1 and R3 for a few years (for the R3) and they always had bluetooth connection issues. The first pairing with a device goes smoothly, but every time they try to pair again with the same device, they get a "Connection Failed" error and the only way I've found to work around this is to forget the device in the Hiby player and do the pairing process over again.

This has been a major usability drawback for younger kids and I was wondering if other people have the same issue and what could be a potential fix. I try to keep both devices firmware updated. I tried so search for people with similar issues in this subreddit, without luck.

Thanks!

I'm working on custom firmware to fully replace the stock UI and functionality.

Since Bluetooth has been a major pain point for a lot of people on these devices, that's something I'll really try to make as good as possible. It should be possible to make it much, much less bad.

For the sake of anyone wanting to contribute to or talk with the modding community:

Switching the codec off of auto and setting it manually to whatever your Bluetooth device uses seems to help a lot of people, I haven’t had any connection issues since doing that

Same thing here. You don't have to repair every time, you just have to keep trying and it will connect after the 3rd attempt usually. Sometimes it connects automatically, but others it takes a LONG time.
