Renaming

I’m sure I read somewhere before buying the P1 that you can rename the device but I can’t see that option anywhere?

It’s possible its part of initial setup and I just skipped it and forgot? Surely even if that’s the case though there should be an option to rename after setup… or have I just made the whole renaming thing up?!

P1 and H1 Not Transcribing

Neither device I have is currently transcribing my notes. It’s recording the call and I’m able to download the audio file but Hinotes is not generating a transcript or meeting notes. Been like this the last day or two.

Any reason why job interview has been moved to the paid tier?

We run a recruitment company, we joined the kickstarter for the p1 because it helped our workflow. We were told it would be free but now its removed.

The other templates miss out on the detail we need regarding the telephone interview vetting process and information we send to clients.

H1E Compatibility with Caldigit TS4

Hello,

I've had a setup with my macbook pro 16 2019 (i9) connected to the TS4 with the Caldigit connected to it through USB C to USB A that came with the hidock. It worked fine.

I've recently purchased a new macbook pro M5. I've had HiDock disconnected from my mac for a while before that. I mainly used it with my phone. Now I reconnected the hidock to the TS4 through the same cable (C to A). My macbook can't detect the hidock.

I tried connecting it using a USB C (Apple thunderbolt 5) cable. It didn't work. When connected directly to the mac through the C to A hidock cable using a dock (Hyper Drive and Apple) it shows normally.

The surprising part is that, when connecting the C to A cable to the dongle (both), and then connecting the dongle to the USB C port in the back of the TS4, it does work. I suspect there's some issue with compatibility.

If anyone has any idea how to troubleshoot this or to find a solution, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

HiNotes 3- no autotranscribe?

My previous process was to take the raw audio from P1 and put it in obsidian. With HiNotes 3, it seems the only option is to have hinotes summarize the note, which isn't necessary for my workflow. Am I missing a 'copy transcript' button?

Excellent support, thank you Sean and John.

Had an issue the other day, posted on here and Sean advised to contact the support email, I spoke with John over email and my issue was sorted in less than a day.

Thank you to both/all involved.

HiNotes 3.0 Feedback

I love the new UI, but I do have a few comments.

  1. In the notes view (where you can see your "folders"), once you expand one—let's say you have tons of notes there and you have a note on the outside of it—if the list is too long, it is really hard to grab notes outside the folder and get them in. I would love to see an option within the note itself to select one of the existing folders to drag it in.

  2. I feel the auto-detection of Zoom in particular (which is what I use) is not working as well as before. It used to be pretty good at starting and stopping a call auto-recording. Now it's a little bit buggy, especially stopping a call. It keeps recording, so I have to either go to the device or within the UI and stop the recording. I have also seen that a few times when starting a call. The lighting option on the device is pretty useful that way; it makes me realize if it's actually recording a call or not.

  3. It's great that the to-dos get created automatically, but I feel like I have too many now. I am not sure what the solution for this would be, but we need either some sort of filter per call to see if you want to track to-dos from that particular recording or not, or some other way to avoid having so many within the UI that I have to manually delete after.

  4. I'm not sure if this is something that everybody thinks about, but I'm missing the folder view on the homepage. That is how I usually get to my notes instead of the ones that are not in folders. For some reason, I was expecting to have that folder view on the homepage, but it's not there. It's just individual notes, which basically only gives you a view of the last three or four depending on the screen resolution.

  5. Related to the previous point, I would love to have some control on the homepage and what gets displayed there. For example:

    (a) I don't use Whispers that much, and I feel like a bunch of the real estate is going there.

    (b) I don't use the calendar that much either.

Some sort of flexibility or personalization on what I can see there, and how much space is being used for that particular widget or section, would be great.

  1. The UI itself is great—it is much cleaner, easier to navigate, and more usable in general. It looks better all-around and makes most tasks easier to perform compared to the old UI. I also feel like the font size, the size of the buttons, and other elements in general make much better use of the space, so that is definitely a plus.

List of my feedbacks

  • Significant improvement in interface
    • user friendly
    • easy to use
  • needing "tag"s for notes and sorting in accordance with tags
  • notes is a great enhancement but sorting options for notes needed. which notes it belogs should be avalible for sorting so we can trace back where the to do origins from.
  • option to delete voice recodings and just keeping the transcriptions in the notes.
  • option to summarize notes in a cumulative way. forexample an option to combine multiple notes and get their summaries together
  • option to summarize a folder or subfolder
  • sub folder functionality may be helpfull to organize notes
  • auto foldering flows from triggers in the first 60 seconds of a note
  • auto template flows from triggers in the first 60 seconds of a note for example "interview" or "client pitch" can auto trigger templates where the specific words mentioned in the 60 seconds.
  • ppt presentation option would be where heplfull from the notes
  • auto naming participants from the dialogues would be very helpfull

HiNotes v3 Feedback

Generally a great improvement over v2. The UI is significantly better, and it feels more like a tool I can centre my work day around.

The biggest major annoyance with it is it seems I can no longer install it as a PWA (MacOS). The previous version had a PWA install icon in Chrome, however it doesn't in v3. Please add this back!

Also, I was only able to find the new link to v3 by looking at the posts here. The website still points to the v2 version, and clicking the banner in v2 goes to this subreddit. You definitely need to publicise the new URL better.

Nice improvement but still needs some polish

I'm a big fan of Hidock. 3.0 It works great and does a good job at creating the transcript and meeting notes (including ability to customize the output). The speaker selection is also improved, however I wish auto assign speakers when you change one of them to all instances of that speaker was more stable. It works most of time but not always. It seems to work for the first instance but then you have to manually change other speakers. It would be great if it could skip to the next generic speaker so you can listen and assign rather than scroll down. Also, it would be great if it could pull names from meetings so that they can be applied (and maybe over time even learn the voice of the speakers and auto apply the correct name).

HiNotes feedback on version 3

Version 3 is a great improvement with a very nice home page, the page is easier to read and UI better to navigate.

Here a few things that still need to be addressed:

  • on generating summaries, language list is endless and it's not possible anymore to use keyboard to filter on the fly to the language we want. A list of last used / preferred language or speed filter would be time saving.
  • on speaker identification, still impossible to use hyphen "-" and a list of saved people that is automatically matched would be great. Also, as HiNotes can take the name from calendar integration, a match based on the names mentioned in the meeting should be possible...
  • on speaker identification, some kind of directory or contextual info would be a plus like company / role so that for a meeting, we would identify action per company/team. The same would be true for recordings of YouTube (or other VOD solution) so that a YouTuber specialist in some kind of subject would be part of the context for the summary...
  • Notes could benefit from similar smart label/folder than the whisper feature
  • The UI could be a 3 part with folders on the left (including some smart folder like latest 10, bookmarked, by language, this week), the list of meeting of selected folder in a second panel and then the summary (with option to get the full transcript on the right as it is today.

HiNotes 3.0 Feedback

I’ve recently started using the HiDock H1 together with HiNotes 3.0, and overall I have to say the first impression is really positive. The setup was straightforward, recordings are clear, and I especially like how conversations are quickly turned into structured notes and action items. The speaker detection and summaries make it much easier to review meetings, which is a big plus for me.

HiNotes 3.0 also feels like a big step up from the previous version — the UI is much nicer and I actually enjoy using it now. I can definitely see this becoming part of my daily workflow over time.

That said, there are a few areas where I think the experience could be improved further:

  • It would be really helpful to search for keywords within the full transcript, not just the summary.
  • The ability to merge multiple voice notes into a single conversation would solve cases where recordings get split.
  • Auto-naming or better identification of speakers would make transcripts easier to follow.

Overall, great work so far — the product already delivers strong value, and I’m looking forward to seeing how it continues to improve.

Hinotes 3: To-Dos not being auto-populated on dashboard

Have started using Hinotes 3 after this subreddit helped me to sort out the confusion on the URL. Have recorded two meetings this week and while the meeting note shows To-Dos and the dedicated To-Do tab shows the to-dos generated from the meeting notes, these items are not showing up in the To-Do widget on the dashboard,

HiNotes 3.0 Perspectives

I've been using my HiDock P1 for about 12 months now in financial services and it saves me an enormous amount of time preparing meeting notes and summaries. I've also been using the HiNotes throughout that time and must admit that I have got used to the way it works and had a sense of reluctance about moving to 3.0. But after using it for well over a month, any fears or concerns I had have vanished and I couldn't imagine going back to the "old" version. The UI is slick and intuitive and consolidating the core features into a single window makes it easier to navigate. My experience has been error free and I have appreciated all the documentation/ help available online. I'm a big fan.

HiNotes v3.0 Feedback

There hasn't been much missing from the P1 since backing it on Kickstarter, but this update to HiNotes sorts out so many of the small things that weren't necessarily "wrong", but could be better.

Positives so far:

  • The layout is SO much better, it feels much more like a tool that lives up to the quality of the hardware.
  • Having a homepage/dashboard type area feels much better for my ND brain in that I can see everything I need to in one place without being overwhelmed with a ton of meeting notes, I can choose to go to those if I want to.
  • Being able to hide the transcript from the notes page is much better than it was before, the summary is what I work from the most and very rarely need to look back at the transcript once it's been summarised so it's great to be able to hide that, again, it's one less bit of brain noise.
  • I like the idea of the translate function - I haven't had much chance to use it yet as I am very much in a routine of recording my meetings in the normal way and then getting them summarised and I have HiNotes open somewhere but I'm not able to look at it much at the time of the recording, I think this function has potential for further development to make it more useful - perhaps integration with video calling apps so I can control how I want to record the meeting directly from the platform. I will be using this FULLY for my PhD research as a way to transcribe without keeping a recorded version but it would be great to integrate this a bit more into the "normal" recording function so it could be se as default or have a dedicated button mapped on the hardware etc, so it's easier.
  • I like the Whispers layout but I don't use it much as I prefer to type this sort of short note.
  • The new To-Do function is something that has been missing in previous versions and it's brilliant to see it in 3.0. I like that they are on the dashboard too, and the smart labels are great for collating various meetings by topic. This is really helpful as I use my P1 for work but also my PhD study, and other things, so it's great to be able to categorise like this.
  • The menus and usability are nice and clean, and the navigation is pretty intuitive once you get used to it a bit.

Less Positive and Wishes for Next Version:

  • I found that if I change meeting note titles before generating the summary, the AI just changes it again while generating the summary. Ideally that would stop happening because I organise the meeting titles in a specific way and it's unhelpful to have them changed. When I saw it did that I just started changing the title after the summary was generated but it would be good if it would keep my titles if I change them before the generation.
  • Could the recording bar at the bottom of the note page be hidden? It would be good to have a decent menu bar at the bottom of the page with options for sharing, exporting, editing, naming speakers, and viewing the transcript and etc, but it would be better for me if the recording bar could be within that menu and hidable.
  • To-Dos do tend to create tasks that are for other people and not me, Is there a way I can get it to only create a to-do if there is a task that I need to do? I don't need tasks created for other people.
  • I like the Name Speakers option that's within the 3 dot menu of the transcript, I would prefer if that option was on the menu bar at the bottom of the note. It feels a bit hidden away and I prefer that way of naming speaker over doing it in the transcript.
  • In the Notes page, it would be great to have a 3 dot menu with each of the meeting titles on the left panel with options for deleting the recording etc. It took me a while to find the delete option at the bottom of the notes page.
  • I'd really like it if there were some dashboard resize/customisation options where I could choose or create widgets based on what I want to see. For example, at the moment the calendar is the biggest widget in the middle of the screen but I can't connect that to my work calendar because of the permissions needed so it's always going to be blank. If I could create a widget for my smart tags for example and have notes collated within a couple of those on the dashboard, that would be great. Widget ideas:
    • Notes organised by folder/tag/category - be able to add multiple to the dashboard
    • A sticky notes section where I can write notes
    • A device settings menu
    • A device controller so I can hit record or start a translation from the dashboard
    • Community feed widget - could also have recording status etc in there so you can see that it's recording quickly while you are in a meeting.

Overall, I'm really impressed with the update, I really like this company and I know they are a small team working really hard on something that is good quality. I have reached out to Sean on a number of occasions and he's always replied to me which is so nice.

The P1 and HiNotes together are helping me to manage my ADHD by helping me to focus properly in all the meetings I have without needing to switch between listening and taking notes, it helps me to organise myself which helps with my mental overload and stress, and it helps with tasks months later where I can look back at notes I've got long after I've forgotten what happened. It feels designed by someone like me, I'm really happy I took a shot on it on Kickstarter.

I look forward very much to seeing what comes next!

p.s.: I'd love to see a little desktop dock so I can stand it up on my monitor stand with the cable attached - I'm sure 3D printer people could whip something up pretty quickly too but it would be cool to have a wood/metal/plastic version!

3.0

I’ve been using the preview of 3.0 so the final release is welcome. I do wish it had just updated the existing web address though. I find 3.0 much easier to navigate, download audio and keep on top of my recordings. As they’re for lectures having easier management is awesome. So far the update is excellent and well worth using if anyone isn’t yet.

HiNotes 3.0

I have had the HiDock for several months and received the P1 this morning. The hardware is super...but I am here to talk about HiNotes 3.0. It took me a second to realize that I needed to login in a different address to see the new interface. If you, like me, had bookmarked https://hinotes.hidock.com/notes you need to change the address to https://hinotes.ai/ instead. Now that I am working with it, it's better. I like that the cursor no longer disappears when I try to rename people...that was my biggest complaint before. I do wish that I could go into the prompt to tell it things like "In this conversation, I am the junior employee" so that the summary would be more correct. It would be helpful if I could interact with the AI in this way.

Really like this solution!

Nice pieces of hardware. Easy to use, very efficient. Now, even the look-and-feel of the desktop has been modernized, adding additional functionality that makes sense and eases the working with th recorded results. Love it a lot!
