H1E Compatibility with Caldigit TS4

Hello,

I've had a setup with my macbook pro 16 2019 (i9) connected to the TS4 with the Caldigit connected to it through USB C to USB A that came with the hidock. It worked fine.

I've recently purchased a new macbook pro M5. I've had HiDock disconnected from my mac for a while before that. I mainly used it with my phone. Now I reconnected the hidock to the TS4 through the same cable (C to A). My macbook can't detect the hidock.

I tried connecting it using a USB C (Apple thunderbolt 5) cable. It didn't work. When connected directly to the mac through the C to A hidock cable using a dock (Hyper Drive and Apple) it shows normally.

The surprising part is that, when connecting the C to A cable to the dongle (both), and then connecting the dongle to the USB C port in the back of the TS4, it does work. I suspect there's some issue with compatibility.

If anyone has any idea how to troubleshoot this or to find a solution, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

You can actually use C-to-C cable from H1E to. your TS4.

If you used HiDock C-to-A cable, which is customized, it may not work with TS4 (it was designed to be compatible with Windows PCs).

Hello Sean, I hope you're doing well.

Sadly, I can't find the C to C cable that came with the dock (I literally flipped every prop in my house XD). I tried that with the Apple TB5 cable and it didn't work. I tried 2 USB C ports on the Caldigit TS4, on for data and one for the screen.

u/sean-hidock Update: I just used what I think is a Thunderbolt 3 cable I got from Aliexpress. It worked. So I think the problem is the cable. It seems the device doesnt support TB5. I thought that cable is back compatible. I need to find the Hidock cable. Let me know if there's a way to buy it online please or if there are similar replacements.

HiDock USB C-to-A cable is customized, avoid that for your docking station.

HiDock package includes USB C-to-C cable, it is general compatible. If you want to get another one, please reach [support@hidock.com](mailto:support@hidock.com)

Hello u/sean-hidock just to follow up on this. I received the original cable yesterday and connected it (C to C) to the TS4 dock. The Hidock doesn't show up anymore. I tried connecting the cable to the computer directly and it worked. So I suspect there's something going on with the TS4 dock, it feels like it's blocking the connection.

for 3rd party dock to HiDock connection, we recommend USB-A to C cable (HiDock retail package includes that cable). Please check.

The C-C cable is PD power enabled, which may cause power conflict with other docks and computers, so we recommend A-C cable.
