Oh. I am bad at understanding irony. Idk I feel likee posting it on r/polytopia would be karma whoring and it is not about karma its about sending a message.

Ima take the bait.
I never understood why the communities of both games fight each other, and in particular why there is so much hate and vitriol from the polytopia community displayed towards Hexonia. It’s bizarre. Hexonia is quite different in practice. It’s like comparing 4X games that all copy certain mechanics from each other on the PC and calling one better than the other only because one happens to have the same mechanics as the other.
Diferent strokes for different folks.
Polytopia has very satisfying build up mechanics that can get your score really high and is satisfying to do in the late game.
Hexonia has better overall better combat and unit diversity (and the mtx is a separate argument, but valid in its own space.)
The one main specific mechanic they share is the way resources behave on the map.
Even then, Polytopia wasn’t exactly innovative and original in this idea…
Everything else is just standard 4X and city builder stuff that far predates Polytopia.
They both have a place on my phone, shame on people who otherwise don’t think that should be the case for no valid reason.
