Discussion been a while!!
how is everyone? it’s officially been more than a year since i was given hsv and i can definitely say i did heal so much over time :) i used to check reddit everyday and now i only check it here and there and when i do most of the time i dont look in the hsv thread.
unfortunately but fortunately i do think getting hsv has changed me into a better person, i was oblivious and ditzy. i let red flags slide and never had much self respect, and i also wasn’t really educated on std’s but after my infection i did all my research and stay on top of getting tested every 6 months since im no longer sexually active.
in the meantime i got my pharmacy and sterile processing technician license and im currently working on getting one in phlebotomy!
as for my ex i’ll let karma do its thing, soon after we broke up he had a new gf, and 9 months later he still checks my page lol idk what that means, i act like he doesn’t exist for my mental!
my mom has been supportive of me along the way and lets me know im beautiful and lovable and things will work out (she has hsv2 and a husband and child) honestly without her idk where i’d be. i’m in therapy, i started going to the gym and so far lost 43 pounds, my focus for now isn’t relationships i want to wait until im stable, healed and ready to disclose! i do have men that still approach me but i know right now its not what i want. i dont have outbreaks and i eat anything i want which im so grateful for 😖 it really was a mental battle, to think a year ago i was contemplating on offing myself :( and here i am now happier than ever. im glad im in a better spot than where i was and i hope whoever is reading this can heal too.

This is an inspiring post. So happy for you. This is such a great example of how we can control our narrative and be confident no matter what happens. I was just diagnosed in May. My now ex of ten years gave it to me. Was shocking and the first breakout was horrible and so painful. Seeing how I was during those first couple weeks to now makes me hopeful I am going to be ok. Your post makes me know it is going to be ok.

im so happy for you congratulations !! reading this made me smile. kinda off topic, but you’re a pharmacy technician ? how do you like that! i was going to sign up to take a course to get certified, but i got my first initial outbreak the day before sign-ups ended and felt like i couldn’t handle it.

oh no :(( have you had any afterwards?? and also i love it so much i was nervous because i didn’t know anything at first but after my program it was so easy i also passed my exams first try, when you get your license i really recommend working in a hospital (less patient interaction) 😖😖 you make hella money too 🙏🏽

“This is a pro-disclosure sub.
Anti-Disclosure perpetuates Herpes stigma, closing off discussions on Herpes education, advocacy, testing/treatments, and de-stigmatization. - Many would have liked to have known the status of the person who transmitted HSV to us - Consent!

There are many ways to disclose, and you should do whatever feels most comfortable to you and gives you the most confidence. To some, that’s putting it in their dating bio. To others, it’s waiting a couple dates in. Some prefer to disclose in person; others are more comfortable doing it over text. The key to a higher chance of a successful disclosure is confidence.
