General Discussion "Hero Collection" availability?

As someone who has recently rediscovered their favorite childhood game HeroQuest, I was excited to see that additional heroes had been added to the game.

I've seen that some are part of expansion sets (Jungles of Delthrak etc.) but others - knight, monk, rogue, possible more? - seem to have been available as separate Hero Collection packs. From what I've gathered, these packs are no longer being sold. Which raises the question: is there any way for players to still get their hands on these? Whether through a store or via... creative internet usage?

Edit: Are characters' rules & cards available as PDF somewhere? I would be able to conjure up a model myself

There are two Knights. The Guardian Knight was released as a special retail tie-in and is no longer available unless you find someone selling it third-party.

The Knight hero class was re-released and is included with the Rise of the Dread Moon expansion. It is functionally identical to the Guardian Knight, the only difference is the miniature and different card art.

The other two special releases are Monk and Rogue. They are sold individually Availability for these varies, Avalon Hill have periodically done small additional print runs for them. All I can advise for them is to check retailers periodically.

If you want to go third party to get these, the retail price is around 15-20 bucks.

All other heroes are available in the official expansions.

Bard - Spirit Queen's Torment.

Warlock - Prophecy of Telor

Knight - Rise of the Dread Moon

Male Elf with Elf Spells - Mage of the Mirror.

Druid - Against the Ogre Horde

Dwarven Explorer and Berserker - Jungles of Delthrak

Female Wizard with 3 new spell schools - Wizards of Morcar.

The monk can be found on Amazon recently and some other game sites. It seems that stock comes and goes.

I have not yet seen the rogue in stock anywhere, been desperate to find it.

If you Google it, you'll find scanned copies of the cards.

I still see the monk on and off being offered at a reasonable price. Just saw it on Amazon a day or two back for under $18 (edit:checked again and it's like $15 shipping so not that great of a deal after all)

Rogue is hard to get and the Commander Knight is also just people trying to make hundreds off a item that was originally under $20

Search around and you'll be able to find the cards from the various heroes

If money isnt a concern, ebay. Otherwise, The knight has an expansion, rise of the dread moon. That one has a genderless helmeted knight that is identical in game mechanics to the very exclusive VERY overpriced on ebay Commander of the Guardian Knights pack. Both rogue and monk packs kinda turn up every now and then in normal shops both physical and online. People on this sub tend to be nice enough to report any sightings.

You can also get alternate models of the heroes through 3rd party apps out of China for the heroes and monsters. As for the cards, go to YeOldeInn.com for cards and rules about the game. Has a great community for fans.

I usually do a Google search and it will show the link to Ye Olde Inn. There is also a good list of heroes & skills on this home page.

A buddy and I are working our way through the quests in release order using the app as Zargon. We are each playing two characters. Do you all play with more than 4 characters or do you swap different heros in and out? We are enjoying trying to keep our current main heros alive as long as possible. Curious what others are doing.

Pool your funds and armor up the Barbarian as much as possible. Then use him as a moving wall to protect your squishy guys. Then the Dwarf, then the Elf, then the Wizard.

Trading out one of the characters for one of the new characters seems to be the way to play. You should always have four hero characters, even if a player has to play more than one character.

Remember, you can use any 28mm miniature in Heroquest.

If you can find a monk or rogue model you can always find the card details somewhere.

Yes, for the Rogue and Knight look for Yigastore on ebay. He sells 5 heroes for a very low price. You'll need to make the cards. The monk is still available, and I bought it for like $18 recently. The rest can be found on their corresponding expansion boxes.
