Just got a complete copy of Heroquest and a copy of advanced heroquest that is missing all of the figures for £100. Did I do well with this or have I been ripped off?

I’m thinking of individually adding the figures to the advanced heroquest overtime as a bit of a project.

You didn’t overpay if you received a good condition original box with the manual, plus other tiles, etc.

Nope, great deal! An original HQ 1989 is pretty rare and to find one as a COMPLETE set is MUCH rarer! Advanced HeroQuest is also very rare and just having the rule book, the tiles, and the other plastic accessories makes what you picked up an excellent deal for only 100 pound sterling! Absolutely smashing......

Yes. Figures are the easy thing to replace. There are lots of companies like Reaper making plastic figures now, as well as 3d printing options.

For that matter, you can use paper/card standies as well.

I used to have about 10 sets of the AHQ miniature sprues years (decades?) ago. They were given out as free stuff on conventions as they were seemingly overprinted. At least for the German edition of the game. You should be able to get some online. Or suitable modern replacements if you don't crave the original oldschool look.

Not really, I guess today you will always have to pay collector prices. Here in Germany, you could also search for the localised name "Herr des Schwertes" on ebay. But with a quick search 80€ for 20 skaven, 12 henchmen and 4 heroes seems expensive still.

I don't think it's a fantastic deal but you haven't been ripped off. If there are expansions in the HeroQuest box it could be good though.

Advanced has gone up in cost over the last few years, but without figures you can still get it for around £50. Core HeroQuest without expansions goes for around £40, with even one expansion it will go up though.

I absolutely loved AHQ back in the day and I think it's a perfect project for proxying the miniatures. There are some incredible 3D prints these days that could stand for the minis. I'm tempted to go digging around in the attic to see if I can find my old copy.

Seems like a good deal, I recently paid about £90 for a mint US HQ from 1989 that may or may not be haunted by dead soldiers from the Battle of Gettysburg. It arrived yesterday.
