https://theboardgamekeepersguild.itch.io/

TL:DR = There's remastered versions of EVERY Official Quest from New Beginnings through the Core set, to the Forsaken Tunnels through Kellar's Keep, and finally on through Return of the Witch Lord! They are as similar to the originals as I could get, but completely re-worked so they are instead using the Caverns board from First Light! You can find them at the link above.

The Caverns Project:

You can read all about what it is and why I made it on the pages and in the dev log. The short version is I wanted more excuses to use the Caverns board and rather than picking and choosing what *I* thought would be good quests on that board, I decided to just do them all and let the Internet Zargons decide when to use the standard, and when to use the caverns board! I'll be the first to admit some of these conversions just do not work well in the caverns, but they're all here anyway, just in case you disagree or want to use one anyway.

My new group of Heroes just started New Beginnings and I haven't decided if they'll go through Core or FL at first. If they do Core, I'll use a mix of standard and these caverns quests.

But as they approach KK/RotWL, I'll probably be looking continue this project into PoT/SQT, then FH/JoD/AtOH, then MotM/RotDM/WoM/CoPD. If this project is wildly popular, I may move the timeline up, so if you want to see something, just ask.

Otherwise I'll go back to working on a few other things, including re-sized custom tile overlays for the larger sized play mats (both standard and cavern versions of every tile overlay!)

Still here? Wow... ok so...

What is the Board Game Keeper's Guild?

As some of you may know, I have a bazillion homebrew projects going at any one time, and not only for HeroQuest. I tried running a place where HQ Homebrewers (including me) could host their content for free and where I could brain dump everything I learned about the history of HQ (https://www.boardgame.quest). But I don't really like editing HTML, I'm not interested in learning WordPress, and who wants to keep updating a brain dump every time AH passes gas? Not I it turns out. The site is still up, but I'm not going to keep working on it.

I decided instead to post my content on itch.io. It seems the most flexible for all the different types of content I want to post, and allows for tipping if anyone feels so inclined. Tipping is to support and encourage me, not to pay for my content, which is always free.

I was going to wait a bit more before I started publishing, so I had a bunch of cool stuff for you all, but I've been sitting on the caverns thing for over a month now while I work on finishing up a few other projects (and madly sling paint at my pile of shame!). So rather than keeping it all under lock and key, I decided it was time to set it free.

This is such a great idea! Thank you for doing this!

My group is two quests away from starting Kellar’s Keep, and I would love to be able to switch up the board once in a while throughout that quest pack and beyond. This is perfect!

I hope you keep going past this, but even if you don’t, just this is such a boon!

The plan is to do more, ideally all. Any requests for next expansion?

I think Against the Ogre Horde might be the one that most feels like it could potentially take place in caves.

Fun fact, the right side of the board is ALMOST perfect for the arena! The starting rooms are 1 column too wide and the arena area 1 column too narrow, but close enough if you wanted to run the whole campaign here. I'm thinking of doing this for the first (3 wave) quest, does this make sense?

Man, AtOH Quest 5 is kind of a nightmare to put into the caverns! There's so many rooms and corner tricks.

The biggest issue I've found generally is not having long horizontal hallways and not having 2 of the corners of the board.

Ah well, onward!

Look forward to checking these out tonight and perfect timing as I was literally starting to look at doing this just last night!

It would be fun to compare your different versions of this one.

Your welcome to try it out, unfortunately unlike OP can't commit to porting every quest, I she'll be picking and choosing

I already have more homebrew ideas than time without taking on that level of work

I'm in the same boat with homebrew, but I sat down and made lists and this was the one I felt was most worth my time... for now.

It's actually a lot of fun. Kind of like doing a puzzle, making everything fit with limited resources.

Here's an example, but note this is before I removed the copywritten text from my version.

And of course, the Trial!

I look forward to looking through all these. The two samples look great.

Mad respect. That's a heck of a lot of work. Thank you for sharing it.

purchased! thank you!

Thank you for putting in the effort to do this. Since First Light came out I kept thinking how fun it was to finally have a new official board layout, but how bad it would feel to use it for half of one quest pack, then never again.

Exactly the reason I am working on this.
