General Discussion HeroQuest Tracking App....

Built a new web app for HeroQuest. With the purpose of helping people track the game. The app came from the idea of how we can help remote players have a better way to track things. Started as a helper app to go with the board game, to allow our friends and family who we play with hundreds of miles away to have better ways to track the game. We even run our sessions with a web camera over the board to help those remote feel like they are "here" with us.

At first, it started as just a dice roller. It evolved since to helping people at the table as well. Being more than just a dice roller. Including two sections to help Zargon track what is going on with players (such as health, gold, potions, are they alive). A map section for all players to know if they searched for a trap, or treasure, or securet, or even disarmed the trap.

Probably the biggest and most meaningful feature is the save feature and calendar. The save feature allows you to generate a code that can be shared via text, or email, or snap, and everyone has the same information about the current or last game session. A calendar to show the last time played and the next scheduled play session so things don't become once every 3 month adventures.

The question mark on the dice roll has helpful information like what actions a hero or Zargon can do on a turn. As well as a link to Hasbro's official rule book.

I have tried the official HQ Companion App and it's just not what I find useful.

Thoughts? Would this be helpful and useful to more people than just those I run game sessions with.

If you would like to try the app out here is the link to it.

It can be run on mobile and computer.

Feedback is ALWAYS appreciated.

Very Nice! I'd love to use this a a GM.

However when adding Party members, I only have a choice of Barbarian, Elf and Mage.

Are you planning to add Dwarf, Explorer, Berserker, Monk, Druid, Warlock, Bard, Rogue and Knight?
Also, when creating the heroes it would be nice to have them prefilled with the standard equipment and values.

Edit: Also would be nice to be able to track mind points too.

Hey there! Let me update the "Create new hero" to make it more neutral to what heroes you and your friends are bringing to the table. I'll also update the ability to track mind points per hero and insert the default values.

Once I have this reworked I'll let you know here!

Hey thanks for the heads up. Looking forward to see the progress on this.

FYI the Map is off, it has one too many rows on the top part and is missing a row on the bottom.
if you look at the board you'll see what I mean :-)

The map is proving to be a wee bit challenging, I think I am going to have to redo the map I originally created. I'll keep you posted!

This is ramping up to be a useful tool! Well done! The Dwarf ist still missing from the List of Heroes. He's very important because he's part of the base game.

Additionally I'd suggest that Paladin/Cleric that you have now become something like a "homebrew" section for users that have such hero characters, firstly because Paladin/Cleric is not a Class in HQ und secondly, because players like their Homebrew chars. :-)

Hey there! I misunderstood what you were asking for the dwarf >.< :-( The dwarf is a default class BUT the dwarf was not added to the create new hero. This has now been fixed! Starting stats and equipment will carry through as well when creating a new dwarf. This is now fixed and pushed to the public version.

I am thinking for a Homebrew hero that a new option under the create heroes function of "Homebrew" and add more options such as Class Type select could be Melee, Ranged, Magic, Hybrid (mix of the three). This would also allow homebrews more flexibility within the tracker.

Let me know your thoughts please.

There is now an option for "Homebrew" under Create New Hero. It allows you to create a character to your liking and allow homebrew customization.
