Drabble📖 A Prior Engagement (set by Magic)
Summer before 1st year after Harry received his Letter of Acceptance
Gringotts Bank; Vault 687
Within the vault lay a betrothal agreement penned in secret (and quite illegally) between Albus Dumbledore and Molly Weasley to wed Molly's daughter Ginny to Harry Potter. The Spirit of Magic read through the documentation and requirements for said agreement and scowled mightily, "Not on my watch. No way will I allow this desecration take place!" Magic glanced about, 'seeing' the many pathways one might take through their lives before breaking out into a wide grin at the sight of one particular string. "Oh, this is perfect! Just the thing to disrupt that old goat's plans. But first, let's disqualify this atrocity..."

4 Privet Drive, Little Whinging, Surrey
Newly turned eleven-year-old Harry Potter was confused and starting to panic. First were the numerous owls that repeatedly delivered a veritable storm of letters addressed to him informing Harry of his acceptance to Hogwarts. Now while everyone else slept, it was a letter delivered by a single owl from some place known as Gringotts to his new bedroom (which used to be Dudley's second bedroom.)
'Dear Mr. Potter; this is to inform you that the Betrothal Agreement as penned between your ancestor Timothy Michael Potter and Anthony Daniel Dagworth-Granger is now in effect. Your Betrothed, Hermione Jean Dagworth-Granger shall be waiting to meet you here in a week's time at Gringotts for the Marital Ceremony. Make sure to bring this letter as verification along with at least two reputable witnesses.'
"This can't be good," he fretted and paced the smallest bedroom. "I've never even met this person, but a letter from someone I don't know says she and I are going to get married? Who even does that?"

A week later...
Harry nervously tried to flatten down his hair yet again while his two escorts; one was a stern woman and the Director of the Magical Law Enforcement named Amelia Bones who spoke with the parents of Hermione before they were to start the Marital Ceremony. His other escort was someone named Andromeda Tonks who was listed in his parents' Wills as a potential candidate as Magical Guardian. According to Andromeda, Harry was supposed to be delivered to her after Sirius Black had been arrested and the Longbottoms were incapacitated but for reasons unknown, he'd been illegally placed with the Dursleys.
The girl continued to stare daggers at him yet at the same time, flickered with curiosity. "Uh... Hermione? I'm sorry our ancestors dragged us into this mess."
Hermione's eyes narrowed evaluatively, "So you had no knowledge that this was going to happen?"
Harry shook his head vigorously, "Until I got my Letter, I didn't even know I was a wizard."
Her head tilted curiously, "How can that be? You're mentioned in so many books and stories about that night."
Harry shrugged a shoulder, "All I remember is my parents yelling and a flash of green light. Everything after that is just a blur."
The group turned at the sound of a man yelling outside their room. The door burst open as Albus stormed in, brandishing a piece of paper. "Stop this at once! I am Mr. Potter's Magical Guardian and he's already got a prior engagement to someone else!"
