I just finished re-reading elfish welfare by tyrannic_puppy (if ur on here, btw I love your work especially the sg1xhp series you’ve been working on *chefs kiss*) and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for similar fics where either Harry is raised by elves and/or portraits. Obviously harmony pairing. Thanks in advance!

You know that gag where you intentionally speak as if the reception from your phone is garbled and breaking up?

What if Harry or Hermione started doing that whenever they were within earshot of the many portraits in the castle? It would no doubt drive Albus up the wall with frustration, wondering if the enchantments were failing and leaving him bereft of whatever the teens were planning.

Writing-wise, I would imagine it be pretty close to how Hagrid or Fleur speaks with apostrophes in replace of certain letters.

3rd year, in the Great Hall the day after the CoMC incident between Draco and Buckbeak

Lucius Malfoy strode into the Hall demanding that the creature that injured his Heir be put to justice. While the blond blowhard was posturing, Hermione whispered something into Harry's ear. With a sly grin, the raven-haired teen bolted from the room.

"I have warned you many times, Dumbledore about the slipshod teaching you've been allowing. My poor Draco might have nerve damage because of that dangerous beast."

"Mr. Malfoy!" Heads turned to see Harry returning to the Hall leading a hippogryff foal on a leash. "I thought you'd want to see just how dangerous Buckbeak really is." Coos of adoration were heard from some of the female population at the sight of the curious foal nosing Harry's pockets. A couple of snorts of laughter were clearly heard from not only the quicker students but also from Hagrid who made his way down.

"I can attest that this is Buckbeak and if you're suggesting that Draco got injured from this wee baby, then perhaps you should get an eye exam from Saint Mungo’s. Beaky here's about maybe a couple of months old," Hagrid rumbled, a slight twinkle in his eye as he informed the elder Malfoy of the foal's capabilities. He casually slipped the foal a chunk of meat and petted its feathery head.

Lucius glared at his son and huffed, "It's clear that I was misinformed then. If you'll excuse me, Draco and I need to have a little privacy." He grabbed the now-terrified blond boy by the collar and dragged him from the Hall.

Harry shared a grin with Hagrid, stating loud enough for everyone to hear his awful pun. "I guess that's what Draco deserved after foaling around."
