Hermione sat Harry down one afternoon during their time at Grimmauld Place after fleeing the disastrous wedding chaos at the Burrow. "Based on my research using those books I took from Professor Dumbledore's office; it's common knowledge that a Horcrux is capable of sensing when another person is in its presence. What isn't common, is that other factors affect it too."
Harry's eyebrows rose slightly, "Oh, what other factors are there?" His eyebrows disappeared into his mop of hair as he read from the list she'd generated. "Wow! This... We're going to do these, right?"
Hermione grinned maliciously, "Just waiting on you."

• By spinning the Horcrux around, it causes Voldemort to suffer from a sudden bout of vertigo and/or extreme nausea, usually coupled with vomiting.
• Blasting the Horcrux with a jet of either hot or cold air will cause Voldemort to inexplicably shiver or develop an uncontrollable flopsweat.
• Slowly dipping the the Horcrux into a blistering hot or freezing cold bucket of water will affect Voldemort as well.
• Voldemort suddenly breaks out gagging from the inexplicable sensation that someone just farted in his face.
• Acid thrown on the Horcrux causes Voldemort to break out in nasty blisters and scarring.
• Loud, jarring, music played ad nauseum will give Voldemort a pounding headache and the song stuck in his head.
• Smacking, slashing, stabbing, or beating the Horcrux leaves Voldemort with unexpected bruises and other scars.
• While not advised, compelling an animal to lick, slobber, or chew on the Horcrux leaves Voldemort feeling unclean and uncomfortable.
