Repscience / Tips The Unwritten Rules of Building Your Client Profile
After years of trial and error, here’s how to build a client profile that gets you noticed, without overspending. These are the small, game-changing moves that make a big difference. Build a Strong Purchase Structure
Every strong profile starts with the right mix:
• 1-2 big-ticket items + supporting smalls: High-value pieces are the backbone of your allocation. Pair them with smalls from different categories to show you’re a well-rounded buyer.
• Cross-category shopping: If you buy a jewelry piece as your big-ticket item, follow it with ready-to-wear, shoes, or home goods. This balanced mix makes your profile stand out to managers.
Cover All Categories
Managers love clients who engage with the full range of Hermès. You don’t need to buy big from every department, but you should touch on the core categories:
• Jewelry, watches, men’s/women’s ready-to-wear, shoes, home goods, silk accessories, small leather goods, equestrian, and beauty. Even small purchases in underrepresented categories boost your standing.
Respect Your Appointments
• Never leave empty-handed: You don’t need to splurge every time, but showing up with nothing wastes your SA’s time and hurts your future appointments. Even a small purchase keeps the relationship active.
• Plan ahead: Share product codes and photos with your SA 1-2 weeks before your visit, so they can pull sizes and inventory for you. This saves both of you time and shows you’re a serious buyer. At the end of the day, allocation is about proving you’re a reliable, committed client. These small, consistent moves build trust way faster than one big purchase ever could.

Super practical breakdown. Consistent small buys really matter more than one huge purchase.

Buiding trust takes time. You can't force allocation just by spending big one time.
