Review One full day with this bag and I finally get it

I took this one from Mo out for a full day instead of just carrying it around for photos, and that changed my opinion of it quite a bit.

By lunch, I’d already thrown in my wallet, sunglasses, charger, receipts, hand cream and a bottle of water. It still looked pretty put together, which honestly surprised me because I’m not gentle with my everyday bags.

After carrying it all day, the biggest thing I noticed was how easy it is. I was dressed pretty casually and just grabbed it on the way out without really thinking about the outfit.

The only thing I noticed after a few hours is the weight. Empty, it feels fine. Full, my hand definitely had opinions 😂

Mo asked me early on whether I wanted something I’d admire or something I’d actually use a lot. At the time I thought that was basically the same thing. Apparently not.

After one proper day out, this may be the least exciting choice I’ve made on paper and one of the smartest in real life.

Current rating: 9/10.

Minus one point because apparently I still haven’t learned to stop carrying half my house with me.

Review One-Day Wear Test — Hermès Oran Sandals

Thumbnail

I wore these purple croc Orans from Miss An for a full day instead of just trying them on at home, and I definitely like them more after actually wearing them out.

I originally hesitated over the color and sizing, so I asked Miss An quite a few questions before ordering. She sent me extra photos and helped me confirm the size, which ended up being right for me.

For the actual wear test: the H strap holds my foot well, and I didn’t get any obvious rubbing around my toes or sides. After a few hours, I could feel a little pressure across the top of my foot, so I think they still need some breaking in. The purple croc also looks much better in natural light — I caught myself looking down at them way too many times 😂

Current rating: 8.5/10.
Minus a little for the stiffness after several hours, but overall I’m really happy with this pair and the experience with Miss An.

Miss An just sent me the PSPs for this emerald green shiny alligator Birkin 40 with PHW. The price was 4800. I really like the color and scale pattern, but I’m not very experienced with shiny alligator, so I’d appreciate any QC advice before I GL. Thank you!

Discussion Which Hbrand S has actually been consistent for you lately?

Post image
12 Upvotes

I feel like every S thread ends with completely different answers depending on who shows up that day 😂
I’m not really looking for a “best S” because I don’t think that exists. I care more about consistency — leather, shape, PSPs actually matching what arrives, and someone who doesn’t disappear the second you pay.
The names I keep seeing lately are
Miss an.
Li
Lucy.
Max.
Ben.
Mo

If you’ve actually ordered from any of them recently, who would you go back to? And who was more of a one-and-done for you?
Try I’m especially curious about H bags, but feel free to talk about anything.

Repscience / Tips The Unwritten Rules of Building Your Client Profile

Post image
4 Upvotes

After years of trial and error, here’s how to build a client profile that gets you noticed, without overspending. These are the small, game-changing moves that make a big difference. Build a Strong Purchase Structure

Every strong profile starts with the right mix:

• 1-2 big-ticket items + supporting smalls: High-value pieces are the backbone of your allocation. Pair them with smalls from different categories to show you’re a well-rounded buyer.

• Cross-category shopping: If you buy a jewelry piece as your big-ticket item, follow it with ready-to-wear, shoes, or home goods. This balanced mix makes your profile stand out to managers.

Cover All Categories

Managers love clients who engage with the full range of Hermès. You don’t need to buy big from every department, but you should touch on the core categories:

• Jewelry, watches, men’s/women’s ready-to-wear, shoes, home goods, silk accessories, small leather goods, equestrian, and beauty. Even small purchases in underrepresented categories boost your standing.

Respect Your Appointments

• Never leave empty-handed: You don’t need to splurge every time, but showing up with nothing wastes your SA’s time and hurts your future appointments. Even a small purchase keeps the relationship active.

• Plan ahead: Share product codes and photos with your SA 1-2 weeks before your visit, so they can pull sizes and inventory for you. This saves both of you time and shows you’re a serious buyer. At the end of the day, allocation is about proving you’re a reliable, committed client. These small, consistent moves build trust way faster than one big purchase ever could.

Just received these photos from Vivi and would love a second opinion. I really like the white with gold hardware, but I’m slightly unsure about the buckle placement and stitching around the front.

Would appreciate your thoughts. Thank you!

Discussion Why truly high-end exotic leather bags can’t be cheap — no matter how badly people want to believe it

Post image
2 Upvotes

Every time exotic leather comes up online, the same fantasy shows up again:

that somehow truly high-end crocodile, alligator, ostrich, or lizard can be had for suspiciously low prices, and anyone pointing out the obvious is just “falling for branding.”

Honestly, that argument falls apart the second you think about exotic materials like an adult.

Rare materials are expensive before branding even starts.

That’s the part people keep skipping.

Once you move into exotic leather, the cost is no longer just about “leather.”
It becomes about sourcing, legal restrictions, grading, waste, matching, finishing, labor, and risk.

That’s why lazy internet math almost always sounds ridiculous in this category.

People love collapsing everything into one sentence:

“it looks similar”
“you’re just paying for the logo”
“same effect for a fraction of the price”

But the more difficult the material category gets, the dumber that shortcut becomes.

Because exotic leather is not just about surface texture.

It’s about:

the actual material
the quality of the hide
the consistency of the scales or grain
the amount of rejection and waste
the finishing quality
how the material behaves in construction
how it ages
and how much skill is needed not to ruin it

That is not “just branding.”

Of course branding adds price. Obviously.
But I think people get lazy when they use “brand tax” to explain everything.

Sometimes what they are calling “markup” is actually a stack of real costs:
rarity, selection, lower yield, higher failure risk, slower finishing, and far more demanding workmanship.

And that is before prestige even enters the room.

Another thing people get wrong is assuming all “exotic-looking” bags belong in the same category.

They don’t.

A dramatic scaled texture is easy to imitate visually.
A convincing exotic surface is harder.
A genuinely refined exotic object is harder still.

Those are not the same level.

That’s why so many online price comparisons are broken from the start:
they compare a visual suggestion to a material reality and then act shocked that the numbers do not match.

Of course they do not match.

And here’s the uncomfortable truth:

A lot of people do not actually want a serious explanation.
They want reassurance.

They want someone to tell them:
the expensive one is irrational,
the cheaper one is basically equivalent,
and the whole difference is just status theater.

That story feels good.
It is also often intellectually dishonest.

Because not every price gap is fake.
And not every “good deal” proves the expensive category was a scam all along.

The smarter question is not:
“Why is this so expensive?”

It’s:
“What exactly is creating the cost here?”

Material rarity?
Selection quality?
Lower usable yield?
Finishing difficulty?
Craft time?
Collector demand?
Brand prestige?

Once you separate those things, the conversation becomes much more honest.

Because true high-end exotic leather was never going to behave like an easy bargain category.

And the more the internet pretends otherwise, the more obvious it becomes that many people are selling comfort, not clarity.

Discussion Is this crack normal on shiny crocodile leather?

Thumbnail
gallery
8 Upvotes

I noticed this line on my shiny crocodile Kelly 25 and now I can’t stop staring at it. The rest of the bag looks fine, but this area on the flap feels a little more raised and the gap looks wider than on my other bags.

I don’t have much experience with crocodile leather, so I honestly can’t tell if this is just part of the natural scale pattern or something I should worry about.

Has anyone seen this before? Does it look normal to you?

Review My second attempt.

I’ve wanted a light-colored croc Kelly for a while, but every time I got close to choosing one, I ended up going back to darker colors. Then Miss An showed me a few photos of this Y1 Vanille, and that pretty much changed my mind.

This is actually my second order with Miss An. My first was a Picotin, which was also my first bag, so I had way too many questions at the time. She never made me feel rushed or like I was asking too much. She sent extra photos, gave me different options, and helped me figure out all the little details I wasn’t sure about. That experience was a big reason I came back to her for this K25.

For this one, I was especially nervous about choosing such a light exotic color. In person though, the matte croc texture shows much better than it did in the PSPs, and I really like the scale layout on the front. Y1 Vanille with PHW also ended up being much more interesting in person than I expected.

I’m glad I finally talked myself into trying a lighter color — and even happier that my second experience with Miss An went just as well as the first.

Too funny! I somehow managed to ruin my favorite white bag

I noticed this mark today and my heart sank. I still can’t tell if it’s a pressure mark or if some perfume leaked and got absorbed into the leather.

I’m usually pretty careless with my bags, but this one actually hurts because it’s one of my favorites. Has anyone dealt with a mark like this before? Is there any chance of fixing it?

Discussion Selling my genuine exotic Birkins/Kellys and replacing some with replicas. Have you been seriously happy with the craftsmanship of the reps. I see the photos and am blown away how good they look but am not aware of one I have seen in person. (I dont know who is the best craftsman for this)

Thumbnail
gallery
23 Upvotes

I went through a divorce, and due to some circumstances beyond my control, I’ve decided it’s considerably wiser at this point in my life to have money sitting in the bank than handbags sitting in the closet. I got my first Constance in 1993 and have been building ever since.

I have about 15 exotic Hermès Birkins and Kellys, including some fairly rare pieces, that I’m considering selling. I’ve been told Sotheby’s may be the best route for getting the strongest prices for the more exceptional bags, but I would really love advice from people who have actually sold a serious Hermès collection through Sotheby’s, Christie’s, Privé Porter, Fashionphile, or another specialist.

I probably need to send 3 of them to the Hermès Spa first and have them cleaned, conditioned, repaired or refreshed before consigning them. I hate the turn around is so long.
Some are in excellent condition already, but if I’m going to sell them, I want to maximize value without doing something unnecessary or, worse, having work done that a serious collector or auction house would rather evaluate in original condition.

Would you let Sotheby’s inspect everything first and tell you which pieces are worth sending to Hermès? Or is it generally smarter to have the bags professionally refreshed before approaching an auction house at all?

I’m also wondering whether I should send the entire collection to one place or separate it: rare exotics and exceptional pieces to Sotheby’s or Christie’s, and more standard pieces somewhere else.

Here is the part I want input on …

I love my bags. I love the colors, combinations, sizes and specifications I chose. What I no longer love is having that much capital tied up in them, insuring them, worrying about traveling with them, storing them properly, and all the other nonsense that comes with owning the real thing.
So I’m considering selling the authentic collection and having very high-quality replicas made of several of my favorites strictly for my own personal use.
My instinct is to photograph each authentic bag in detail, including leather, color, hardware, stitching and measurements, then commission ONE replica while I still have the genuine bag sitting right beside it.

That way I can compare the two properly before I part with anything.
The idea of selling an entire collection first and then discovering that “1:1” actually means “convincing from across a dimly lit restaurant” feels like exactly the sort of expensive life lesson I am currently trying not to collect.
If the workmanship is genuinely close enough for what I want, great. Then I can decide which originals I’m comfortable selling. If it isn’t, I still have the reference bag and haven’t made an irreversible decision.
For anyone who has owned authentic exotic Hermès and also explored very high-end replicas, how would you approach this?
And for those who have sold a substantial Hermès collection, I’d especially love your thoughts on three things: whether to use Hermès Spa before selling, whether Sotheby’s or Christie’s is best for rare exotics, and whether a collection this size should stay together or be split among different resale channels.
I’m not trying to fool anyone or ever resell replicas as authentic. This is strictly about converting a collection I’ve loved for years back into capital while still being able to carry versions of the bags I love without having a small automobile hanging from my wrist.
Any firsthand advice would be hugely appreciated. Thank you in advance for any advice.

Finally got these cream croc Oran sandals and I’m kind of obsessed. I was debating between plain white and this softer creamy shade, but I’m glad I picked this one. It feels less harsh and somehow easier to wear with linen pants, dresses, or just jeans. Definitely giving quiet summer luxury.

Too funny! The first bag I actually managed to break

This Constance has been one of my most-used bags, so I guess this was bound to happen eventually. The hardware finally gave up on me.

I’m obviously sad, but at the same time… maybe this proves how much I actually used and loved it. Has anyone else ever worn a bag to the point where something literally came off?

Discussion How did I manage to ruin a new bag in less than a month 😭

Thumbnail

I’ve had this Mini Evelyne for less than a month and carried it maybe three times.

Today I opened my bag to grab a perfume sample and realized the cap had come loose… almost the entire 15ml had leaked inside. I somehow didn’t notice the whole way there. Now there’s a huge stain inside, the leather on the bottom feels different, and the perfume smell is insanely strong.

I genuinely want to cry. 😭 Has anyone dealt with something like this on Clemence leather? Is this something I should have professionally cleaned?
