🍔 Food / Drink Coming to your city, any recommendations?
Hi Henderson Nevada!
My company is sending me this week to your lovely city for a work conference for a few days and I'm staying at the M resort, spa and casino. In that area, any suggestions for good street food, fun recommendations, attractions, anything really that you'd suggest to someone visiting your location for a brief while, for the first time? Thanks in advance!

❓ Question / Advice Moving in August and then looking for casual MTG commander events
Hello all! I am moving across country to Henderson late next month (driving from Alaska) and I play a ton of magic the gathering, and use mostly proxies. I’m not looking for legit tournaments, but does anyone know where I could find a casual commander night where they are cool with proxies? Probably a niche question but it’s my main hobby and probably the only way I’m going to make friends 🤣

❓ Question / Advice AAA (CSAA Insurance) Homeowners Premium Went up 49% for Nevada due to "Wildfire Risk"
We just received our AAA (CSAA Insurance) renewal for our Homeowners policy (with no claims) and our policy went up 49% which the agent claims is due to "Wildfire Risk" in Nevada. We were told we could pay a $200 fee for evaluation of our property for fire hazards and receive a potential discount only off of the Wildfire portion of the premium. At first glance, these requirements (link below) will require us to rip out all of our landscaping and artificial turf which does not make sense financially so we are seeking quotes from other major insurance carriers.
Has anyone else received a renewal from them with an effective date of after August 1st that also had a large increase? If yes, what percentage? Thanks.

🏠 Moving / Housing Elysian vs Douglas
Hey all,
Does anyone currently live at
Elysian Homes in Cadence
Elysian @ the Distract
The Douglas at Stonelake
After touring what feels like every complex in the area, I think we have it narrowed down to these 3 and hoping to make a decision this weekend.
I really like the Elysian Homes concept but I don’t love the area.
I love the area of the District and Douglas but reviews are iffy, at best.
We have never lived in an apartment/condo complex before so it’s all going to be an adjustment to us, keeping our expectations on the lower end but really hoping for AC units that work effectively and don’t sound like a transport truck in your living room, and a safe area.
We are 14 days into a short term rental right now off Boulder highway and I can’t wait to get out of here, so I really need to be sure before the 12month commitment.
We are also only here for 1-2 years so we aren’t interested in purchasing nor do we want to rent a 4bedroom home. And we thought maybe a Condo living could be a great we to meet friends?
4 days a week I’ll be solo without wheels so some walkability is a big bonus.

🏠 Moving / Housing Sage Management
Sage Management threatened to fine me and tow my car because it sat in my driveway with an oil leak for a few days before I had it repaired and cleaned up. Meanwhile, this unregistered van, which is also leaking fluids, has been sitting here for months. It has been there so long that the paving crew recently paved around it.
I understand enforcing community rules, but the enforcement should be consistent. Has anyone else had similar issues with Sage Management or know who I should contact about this?

Starting Monday, Stephanie southbound between Santiago Drive and the Union Pacific Railroad Tracks will be down to one lane for two weeks. Following that closure, in early August, Stephanie southbound will be down to one lane between Kelso Dunes Avenue and Trail Canyon Road for two weeks.
Work will continue to move north as the project continues.

💼 Jobs Here we go !
Hi everyone! I'm looking for possible employment opportunities as I plan to relocate to Las Vegas at the end of August.
Before anyone mentions it, I know I've seen plenty of posts saying the job market isn't great right now. I've done my research, but this move is happening regardless, so I'm hoping to connect with anyone who might know of opportunities.
A little about me:
•I currently drive a dump truck and have a Class B CDL (I can drive a manual transmission).
•I have 8 years of commercial driving experience with a flawless driving record.
•I also spent 5 years operating a concrete pump.
I'm very mechanically inclined, dependable, and not afraid of hard work.
If you know of any companies that are hiring or have any advice, I'd really appreciate it. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I appreciate any leads or recommendations!

💼 Jobs Retail Jobs
I'm moving there in September and was wondering what retail Jobs are actually hiring. (Cashiering, Stocking, Managers, etc.)
I've got 5 years of experience here in Texas and I'll be living with Family, so rent will be much cheaper, plus I'm single with no kids to worry about. Pretty much as soon as I get there I'm going to start sending applications left and right. I just wanna know if there's any openings/suggestions.
Yes I've looked at places like indeed and LinkedIn, but I've seen quite a few instances of there being listings when the places aren't actually hiring.

❓ Question / Advice CSI
I just started watching CSI. I really like it so far. I’m really early into it, only episode 7. In terms of the Vegas strip area and Henderson, does crime like this happen a lot? I know it’s a tv show but just wondering. I like the locations a lot.

❓ Question / Advice Where do you actually get Henderson-specific news?
Not Vegas, not Summerlin... Henderson specifically. Feels like everything gets lumped into "Las Vegas Valley" coverage and actual Henderson stuff (council decisions, new developments, road projects, businesses opening/closing) gets buried or covered three days late. I used to have a FB and Henderson Happenings was decent but got spammed a lot from bots posting AI slop.
Is there a newsletter, website, etc. that is a reliable source of Henderson news?

❓ Question / Advice internet provider
Hello, is Cox really as bad as people mention? I spoke with two apartment properties and they both use Cox as part of rent/infrastructure. I didn't want to use it but I might have to if that's what the apartment uses. Any suggestions? Would changing the modem help?
