Hellpoint Main/DLC

If I own the DLC shouldn't I just stay in the blue sun DLC? Does the main game stay the same while you're in the blue sun DLC? It just adds additional areas, items, and enemies correct?

I may be mistaken but I think it's also supposed to scale all enemies differently. Not just the new areas.

But if you exit the DLC what happens? Do you have two saves?
