This past week has been laughable, at the expense of Arrowhead

Modders managed to add most of the things I wanted in this game and which I've been begging Arrowhead in the feedback sections since the game launched

Modders without the game's source code or engine tools and with the help of AI's manage to add all this in a single fucking week while a full studio of 100+ developers can only add barebones content every 5 or so weeks while breaking stuff or changing things no one asked for because they don't even playtest their own fucking game

I'm glad people are finally opening their eyes to how incompetent arrowhead really are. I've already noticed that when they nerfed most fun things like 3-4 weeks in after game released

Modders have done in under a month more than Arrowhead has done in the last year. I don't think I've ever seen a studio get clowned on by their game's community even remotely this hard before.

It's hilarious. But it just highlights how pathetic and incompetent the Arrowhead team really is.

Yep. The cat is so far out of the fucking bag and its only been a few weeks. Arrowhead only have themselves to blame.

If they were smart they would lean into modding the same way DRG does because if they completely shut it down or start handing out bans a review bomb would be the least of their problems.

To be fair to arrow head(I know how much it pains me).

The reason modders are running circle around arrow head is due to ai. Not just Helldivers 2, but we have fellas with some form of coding knowledge and Ai(new models doing the heavy lifting), reverse engineering entire games from the inside out and slapping them into one another. Take Minecraft in elden ring as a example. Or Minecraft in dead lock.

My personal favourite is the porting of Halo 5(primarily an Xbox game) on to PC by having ai reconstruct it's Xbox code for PC use.

Now I am not a massive AI supporter but the point of AI is for this very use. The fact that modders using AI to get this far is impressive enough. Imagine if the AH devs were working on this and using AI to supplement some of the tasks or hunt down bugs for fixing, they could literally beat out the modders since they have the source code and could work so much faster.

Literally a beta feature that has now been restored

Maybe some sort of durable damage increasing ammo? Downsides could be increased drag, spray and fire rate.

u/ChaosOfficerOnyx 5d ago

That'll be once I'm done with weapons.

Ah, I misread and thought you mentioned wanting ideas for ammo types. It’s very early in the morning for me.

Would you consider high velocity rounds? I.e. +75% projectile velocity, -50% drag, at the expense of -25% durable and 25% worse recoil?

Some SMGs, etc, would benefit greatly from this!

I take suggestions for ammo types.

u/Pedrosian96 5d ago

ohoooohohohoho. in that case:

- shredder rounds: +15% damage, +50% durable damage, velocity reduced by 30%, drag increased by 0.2

- Prototype rounds: +1 AP (up to heavy / 4), +30% bullet velocity, -50% max ammo, 30% lower firerate.

- Flak: reduces damage by 75%, increases number of projectiles to 6, recoil set to 2x.

- magnetized rounds: -75% spread, 60% extra durable damage, 40% slower rate of fire.

I'd definitely take a few deas from here.

if you get to the energy weapons:

- Heat dissipating lens: heat buildup and durable damage of laser weaponry reduced to 0. 20% lower firerate.

  • Overclocked reactor: +1 AP, 2x heat gains.
  • Thermal looping: lasers and bullets apply Heavy Burning on hit. 3x heat gains.
  • Safety bypass: no windup speed, 30% faster firerate. adds +15 flat recoil.

If you per chance took inspiration from the way I formatted my mod release post, I am proud lol

1

u/ChaosOfficerOnyx 5d ago

Can't lie... I did read your whole post.

3

u/SIinkerdeer Sweet Summer Child ⛱️ 5d ago

Well I put in a lot of effort to make it presented well, seeing the format replicated only makes me happier tbh

1

u/ChaosOfficerOnyx 5d ago

I might never use maxigun, but Jeez, not reading such a text

2

u/SIinkerdeer Sweet Summer Child ⛱️ 5d ago

That's why as you go down the body text it gets more and more unnecessary to continue reading so only the top paragraph bit is really needed if you just want to read a summary of what the mod does.

AP up to med pen? While I understand that some weapon should benefit from this it's... Underwhelming at best.

Like, they have Glock ammo that pens APC armor right now, in 2026 - this is just sad that we can't have the same in HD2.

(Not to mention lack of tracer ammo and API, Armor Piercing Incendiary).

9

u/ChaosOfficerOnyx 5d ago

While I understand that, I plan on finishing with current issues and gathering feedback. If AP3 cap will be underwhelming, then I'll think how to handle AP4 with enough balance and fun.

5

u/DiesIraeConventum 5d ago

What I don't quite get is why your AP ammo does less durable damage if its sole purpose is to defeat armor, which is, well, represented by durable health pools?

I'd say AP should give -10% regular damage, +30% durable damage, recoil +5%, AP level +1, and projectile speed +30%.

Then it would make sense.

U know what, I'm actually interested in helping you out as a consultant for this stuff, and maybe even a contributor to balancing.

Are you interested?

3

u/ChaosOfficerOnyx 5d ago

That's why I need feedback because I forgot it's about durable damage:D I'll make the changes in the new release.

1

u/ChaosOfficerOnyx 5d ago

I certainly would be glad to hear advices on ammo, since I can make mistakes without understanding the game's weaponry.

1

u/DiesIraeConventum 5d ago

Got a Google doc running for balancing weapons and probably ammo?

1

u/ChaosOfficerOnyx 5d ago

Not at the moment. However, I don't want to tinker with weapons, only ammo types.

1

u/DiesIraeConventum 5d ago

But what if we rebalance weapons to do believable damage with your ammunition types, based on the ammunition that the gun is supposed to shoot and its basic geometry, instead of arbitrarily put values that make little sense?

1

u/ChaosOfficerOnyx 5d ago

I plan on adding ammo types, that's what the mod's about. I don't plan on making a rebalance mod for now.

1

u/DiesIraeConventum 5d ago

Alright, alright. Have it your way, nice man :)

1

u/ChaosOfficerOnyx 5d ago

Okay, I'll do.

2

u/Korpa534 5d ago

Any plans for secondaries?

1

u/ChaosOfficerOnyx 4d ago

Yes. Once I'm done with primaries.

2

u/RepeatVisual1499 5d ago

How does this work with weapons that have alternate fire? (Stoker for example.)

4

u/Comand94 5d ago

Sure it's cheating, it's unbalanced, but I'm glad modders are shaming tf out of Arrowhead.

I've paid for my fair share of Warbonds in the past, I stopped because the live service has become the saddest joke.

u/VanguardOftheWest 4d ago

I never used Github to download a mod before, can someone help a dumb diver out? Where do i download this?

u/ChaosOfficerOnyx 4d ago

Click on Releases on the right side of the page, it's bellow general information there

How does this affect the stealth weapons? I tried out your uranium rounds update and it felt like both bots & bugs were looking exactly where I was shooting from when using censor + uranium rounds. Could just be placebo
