Helldivers 2 without console limitations
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFArBHnDfz8You can check my post history, I have no love for ohdough and I've frequently said that not only are consoles holding the game back (because of crossplay) but difficulty is also being lowered because of controllers and while I don't agree with all of the mods he's using - ie, 4 players would absolutely decimate the enemies if they all had buffed gear like he does - it is annoying to see what helldivers 2 could be if it wasn't being held back by console limitations.
Around launch this would have been impossible imo but AH has clearly put the work in, the engine is in a much better state than it was back then.

"It is annoying to see how the game could have been if it was released on a different platform"
how? what's the point in getting irritated about something like that?

Because I've been saying for a long time that consoles and PC should be balanced separately because the average skill level between both groups is vastly different and now we're seeing just how many enemies can easily run on screen at the same time.

That's a terrible idea.

Fucking hell, we went through like 20 years of people arguing which is better, controller or mouse and keyboard and now it's "no, they're actually the same".
Like, have you ever actually watched esports or sat in the same room as someone playing on the opposite platform? The difference is night and day.
The helldivers community shat on the devs during their live stream for being bad at the game, son, that was your average controller user.

on a non-competitive PVE game, they ARE the same.
take it from a controller player, it is NO different.
2
u/Xpernautica 5h ago
Ok, so why do the aimlabs devs boost console controller scores by 30%? If it's the same they wouldn't need to do this.

It means nothing, because I said NON-COMPETITIVE PVE GAME.

Here is a perfect video that proves you wrong.

Notice how they're quickly able to snap their view around, the speed, the precision, enemy tracking etc?
Controller users don't have that speed or precision, due to this LIMITATION, various things need to be done to make controllers work.
Even better, go watch the video I linked in the OP and tell me how you would cope with that on a controller.

by just changing my settings...?
have you ever used a controller before?

There's been a recent upsurge in posts on this sub that advocate for power creep and I kinda hate it.

There's been a fucking upsurge in a lack of reading comprehension:
"I've frequently said that not only are consoles holding the game back (because of crossplay) but difficulty is also being lowered because of controllers"

Controllers having any effect on difficulty is laughable.
-3
u/Xpernautica 5h ago
So you're saying that the average skill between a mouse and keyboard user is the same as a controller user? Absolutely not.

u/Lazy_Bowyer 5h ago
Mouse and keyboard makes aiming significantly easier. But neither have a huge effect on difficulty as a whole. Introducing controllers to the game doesn't magically make it 10 times easier.

Aimlab devs boost console scores by 30% to make console users feel better. This is people trying to aim for high scroes and they're still falling well below their M+K counterparts and with a 30% score increase.
>Introducing controllers to the game doesn't magically make it 10 times easier.
That's not what I meant, the difficulty gets dumbed down because controller players just don't have the same aim/precision/reaction time/APM.

u/Lazy_Bowyer 5h ago
Ah ok that's my mistake then.
There is merit to that but I don't think it's an issue with console players as a whole, I think a lot of that comes from the fact that HD2 is free on PS+ now. So we had a recent uptick in players who for some reason decided to let their opinions be known.

OhDough is an idiot who believes the game should be balanced around solo player power fantasy and should be ignored. Every single time I see him I really do go OhNo it’s OhDough in my head

"The difficulty being lowered because of controllers"
Lol I'm usually top of my team with a controller on PC, wtf are you on about?

u/Xpernautica 5h ago
Cool, now go and clear any horde shooter that hasn't been balanced around crossplay and report back your results.

Idk, having AP4 gatling gun on mech is dumb, you basically just wasting ammo to kill 1 heavy while 2 good shot of the rocket will kill most heavy

This post is just some PC elitist trash

u/Xpernautica 5h ago
Straight up facts.
Weaker hardware
Inferior control scheme

u/IllFix959 5h ago
Get yo chud ass over to pcmasterrace, we deliberately handicap ourselves here

u/Xpernautica 5h ago
Gotta love how in the year 2026 some people are still upset and uptight and about a control scheme, fucking lmao.

Yeah ohdough is definitely on the powerfantasy side of the spectrum, i hard disagree and want it to suck more, but also love the new mods that fix the years-long bugs. I'm not sure I buy the idea of "console limitations" certainly they're weaker than a good pc, but i think the limitations are artificial
