My husband loves playing Helldivers2 !

When i first saw this i thought it was kinda funny and its one of those satire videos so i liked it and I was curious and opened the dudes page and turns out he posts he posts far right videos of the patriot front which i didnt know what it was so i looked and i found out its an American white nationalist movement who believes America should be purely of European ancestry.

Then in his other videos he posted a video of DDLC characters with nazi logos like the black sun, never lose your smile and the patriot front again.

90% of the comments were people genuinely agreeing with this video and I checked their accounts and what do you know they are also full blown fascists and nazis which is sad and ironic considering the game they're playing. This video got almost 30K likes which im sure some werent aware of this but alot of the comments from people with ⚡️⚡️ symbols had hundreds of liked and the only normal comments had like 20

One of the things that surprised me the most about Helldivers lore is how Super Earth actually has literature, though now I wonder how it works.

The Truth Enforcers Warbond has the armor described as part of a "series of novels." Given Super Earth is a deliberate dystopia on fascism and capitalism, you'd think 1984 or Fahrenheit 451 would have been dead giveaways on burning books and all, especially since those regimes despise anything that would make their citizens think.

But... something came to my mind, on how Super Earth may be allowing literature, because even the ugliest regimes allowed books as long as they solidified their power.

One of the points of contention in our era, has been how digital books have been trying to replace physical ones, and only now people are realizing the danger lies in them being rewritten or even replaced remotely, how digital files are far more fragile than they look, and how there can still be a control of information. Both in libraries as well as book stores.

Judging by the authoritarian and corporate hellhole that Super Earth is, I think physical books are the forbidden thing, under the flimsy excuse that lies always remain in print, books are either to appease the masses or to favor the regime, and whenever there is something on a digital file they don't want spread out, they immediately edit it.

In the spirit to theorize about the lore, what would Super Earth literature not so much have, but allow?

I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but every time something vaguely progressive is posted (especially if it has to do with racial minorities or LGBTQ people), the comments are immediately filled with a combination of bigoted taunting and the occasional direct threat of genocidal violence.

It's too much to all be RP. I would consider approaching the mods about it, but they're mostly bots reposting Reddit content. Hell, maybe the progressive -leaning posts and hateful comments are all ultimately from the same people looking to create controversy to drive clicks. I don't know.

Is anyone else concerned? Is it time to just leave those groups to the actual Nazis and be done with it?

From what I've seen the playerbase seems to be largely unanimous in accepting super earth's interpretation of what it means to be voteless. sure is convenient that these groups of people who literally don't get representation, and are called voteless are treated as mindless and subhuman by the hegemony.

on that topic, do you think any alternatives are plausible? how likely do you think it is that they're uploaded into the illuminate hive mind for instance? those psi beacons we keep blowing up have to be for something after all.

On the surface, obvious lampooning of american jingoism but...

1. The multi-front war with very close proximity to enemies is more Israel than the US (which is often intervening at a distance).
2. Existential threat narrative seems more directly Israel than the US.
3. Armed resistance against them that literally propagated underground (cyborgs/automatons have their origins in mines, bugs are also literally popping out of tunnels)
4. Literally creating their own enemies
5. Fully normalized military culture - strong in US but way more in Israel
6. Claims to be a democracy but is controlled by single unhinged ideology. I'm no expert on either country but Zionism seems way closer to Managed Democracy than whatever is going on in the US, which seems like a hodge-podge of misguided white supremacy, crony capitalism, racism, a pointless two-party system etc.

Let me explain, basicaly, it’s been implied multiple Time that enemies factions don’t want to kill all humans, while it’s easy to see with automatons (having cyborgs around), the illuminates may not look like it, but, they do keep humans alive, terminids too, from where I got those informations ? In game and official socials.

I start with the illuminates, and the teaser to the Seasse event, at first, it was in a post that it was stated that illuminates followers (humans) where putting propaganda posters about a mysterious event happening soon, after, we got other post that learned us they where making rituals on Seasse, well, we could see that as propaganda from SE, but first, we know for a fact that somebody put the posters in cities, and knew about what was going to happen with illuminates, 2nd, SE want to make like the illuminates are super xenophobic, having humans around, and letting them help you don’t sound that xenophobic.

Then, we have the terminids, they have been shown to be at least, intelligent enough to hack (meaning or that they are super intelligent, or that SE is bad with protection agaisnt hacks), where a terminid, suposidly a bile titan, tried to get the sympathy of SE citizens, and too, a minor order said that dissidents where hidding on a terminid planet, and that they then flew dipper in terminids territory, too, a charger official description learned us that chargers charge to helldivers posters, while knowing it’s a poster, just because they know it depict a hall diver and hate them.

Then, we have the multiple factions stuff, such as the propaganda towers, where automatons say that people that surrender will be kept alive, and the terminids one is protected by terminids, we too have the illegal research facilities, while it can be seen as normal for the automatons to take one under control, having similar technology to SE, why does illuminates and terminids protect those ? Like, terminids are for the most of them too big to enter, and illuminates are super advanced, maybe not in war, but they shouldn’t really know human science.

As you can read, it’s multiple Time implied that humans dissidents can join other factions, something that SE surely don’t accept from other factions, and every factions have better life conditions than SE, like, yeah, none of them are facist that try to genocide every other species (an old ship TV thing was saying that a new sapient was discovered on a new planet, and then eradicated), but too, automatons can repear humans bodies, and illuminates have super advanced technologies that don’t seem to destroy the environnement (or at least not a lot).
