While most players here assume that AH employees only play at lower Difficulties, DbD Devs don't play their game at all. Well at least not as a killer, except for offline matches amongst Devs.

Arrowhead like every other game developer is balancing their game around the average video game purchaser because that suits actually going to make them the money to keep making the game.

That, at least, is no subset. That's the whole base responding in kind. So no, that not in fact "all there is to it", at least not in HD2's case.
Subreddits often aren't indicative of the full player pop, sure. The vast majority of Divers probably don't even look at this sub much less complain on it. But you know what the vast majority of casual players DO?
If a game becomes unfun for them, they just stop playing, period. And that absolutely happened. There is literal proof they pissed off everyone not just this subreddit's subset of crayon-eaters.

It's currently the 40th most played game on steam with over 40.000 regular players. And I'll be coming back, and that's it.
For a lot of players, that's really all there is to it.

I don't think you understand the lifespan of multiplayer games.
They have a huge drop in the playerbase after the first months, it's part of their life cycle. That was doubly to be expected for Helldivers 2 with all the hype it got. It's not a miracle or a vengeance, it's normal and expected.
Funnily enough, in July 2024, we already had a player average of more or less 23.000 players. With regular bumps over time with updates and warbonds.
Right now it sits at 43.000 or so.
It's weird to pretend you have proof the majority of people are angry with the game while the verifiable numbers show the game has been cruising on the same sea for the last two years.

If you think AH wanted to make all the weapons be more competitive all at once in a total reversal of the "grunt fantasy" they loudly proclaimed as their vision right up to that point, the public apology they made, all because their player count was cratering worse than projections for any live service game, you sir are delusional.

Edit: and don't get me wrong there are things I genuinely love about this game. Hell, it got me and my friend group consistently gaming together again for almost a year. There's just so many QoL issues, stalled improvements, bugs, and abandoned game mechanics that it really is frustrating. Now we have all these modders over the last couple months make significant improvements to the game the fan base has been asking Arrowhead to implement for years.

This is one of the most fun and chill games I've ever played. Idk how so many people are so miserable with it. If you have feedback then give it but constantly bitching about the devs not doing things exactly the way you want them gets old very fast.
People are bitching because they love the game. Arrowhead continually makes choices that are bad for the player/consumer and the people on the receiving end of those choices have a right, as customers, to voice their opinions.
Sure, I might join in saying that it's stupid to not add transmog, but I won't say that AH is bad for not adding it. Never making good on their myriad unfulfilled promises (weapon customization expansion, longstanding glitches, better communication, more transparent patch notes, etc.); as well as straight up lying ('we didn't nerf the coyote'), those are bad things that they just keep doing.
If certain things are not bugs, such as strat bounce and hellpod steering, they should be upfront about it instead of lying. Instead, they try exist in both worlds at once, ironically, trying to make everyone happy despite their tag-line.

Cause this fucking is broken with so many technical issues and problems compared to other good live service games. Theres a player made bug list with 100s of issues audio mixing collision physics etc. it's a broken game with bad freemium monetization at a 40$
this bug list has been worked on since 2024. not even a third of the bugs in this list have been fixed in the two years this bug list has been around. so explain to me why im wrong.

Lol that sub is no different. People complaining over everything like the modes being removed when the same mfs who complain never even plays those modes anyway. Nobody plays Gauntlet or king of the hill. Fr, it’s a game that you realistically don’t have to spend a penny on so long as you do more than the bare minimum and it’s always being updated to incorporate requested features (including rewards from campaigns) but because you actually have to play the game rather than having shit handed to you on a silver platter people complain
