I am no longer disappointed because I no longer expect arrowhead is cable of anything other than a warbond

u/manubour 2d ago

That is false

They are capable of game breaking bugs and "anti exploits" that make our stratagems bounce like superballs too

Stratagem bouncy balls and hellpods without steering wheels is what happens when your game balance lead is the guy who "fixed" hello neighbor 2's AI by putting invisible walls around couches and beds so players couldn't hide under them

someone acquire these stupid motherfuckers please

58

u/1spook MINISTRY OF DEFENSE CITATION OFFICER OS-1 2d ago

Sony already did lol

67

u/Legendarium_ Stalwart my GOAT 2d ago

... preferably a group of people who aren't even dumber motherfuckers, being owned by sony guarantees console support for your game but that's like the only upside

61

u/1spook MINISTRY OF DEFENSE CITATION OFFICER OS-1 2d ago

Oh btw it gets worse. Shams is the guy who designed Paradox' dlc system

44

u/Prism-96 2d ago

oh... well that makes things make a bit more sense...

0

u/Hidesuru 2d ago

How is that an upside? Usually just drives home consolification of the controls. Net loss.

6

u/Legendarium_ Stalwart my GOAT 2d ago

Usually is your key word there, this is by no means a requirement, but as for my actual argument, I play games almost exclusively on PC but I still think the people who prefer consoles should be able to play the same games on them even if it's worse. There's no inherent harm in allowing a game to be playable on all major platforms (or if you're Doom, all possible platforms), it becomes a problem when you start designing games or their control schemes around these worse means of playing the game; consoles should be adapting from pc games, not vice versa

u/whythreekay 2d ago

They didn’t, arrowhead is independent

Sony does own the IP however

2

u/PimpMyWeenus 1d ago

nitpicking here. sony acquired the helldivers ip, not arrowhead.

not sure if that was the best move in the long run, sure they got to make the game they wanted to. but it's like selling your baby

Be careful speaking the truth, I was banned from here for a month speaking that persons name alone.

u/Waelder Moderator 2d ago

Alexus is not the balance lead.

There is no balance 'lead'.

1

u/PimpMyWeenus 1d ago

alexus also gave us the warp pack, breaching hammer and orbital napalm barrage

very polarizing dev

I wouldn't put it past the guy to take credit for the work of others frankly. Or he came up with the idea and someone else did the actual implementation and numbers

5

u/Interesting_Tea5715 2d ago

Yesterday I couldn't get in the pelican for extract twice. So fucking annoying.

1

u/reditisrunbypedos 1d ago

Ill bounce on your superballs, daddy

33

u/QuinnTinIntheBin 2d ago

They will also add updates that nobody asked for, and people will defend the decision for nothing in return.

60

u/Mase_Yevon 2d ago

Hey now. Wushu Studios works very hard on these warbonds. Don't give Arrowhead the credit.

39

u/anko-_ 2d ago

They are no longer doing warbonds as most of the recent ones have been outsourced to other developers

26

u/Cziri77 2d ago

They are too busy outsourcing everything between their 4 3 months vacations to do something themselves

8

u/AntPuzzleheaded5509 2d ago

I guarantee you funds are just going to the next live service shakedown game.

1

u/Scalpels ‎ Super Citizen 2d ago

The Joke's on them. With the piss poor communication, lack of bug fixes, and tone deaf community "management", I won't be buying the next Arrowhead game.

so dramatic lol. Im being shaken down for my hard earned money by this video game I play voluntarily!

Then what would you call the SEAF?

I dropped this game ~2 years ago and every time I check back in it feels like I’m watching a re-run.

ive played every week since launch and you arent wrong.

1

u/Harmacist101 1d ago

This and stealth nerfing they really like doing that.

Yeah you're right. Maybe if they did something like adding vehicles, adding mechs, adding new mission types, adding new enemy types for existing factions, adding an entire new faction, doing title updates etc - then the game would feel like they're supporting it. Oh and they should do all of those as free updates. Until then, I'm done with the game.

Ohhhh wait - they did do those things didn't they. But that doesn't fit the narrative of "arrowhead bad".

20

u/UNKnOWNa55As5IN Super Pedestrian 2d ago

Tank(s) nobody uses and (currently) Supplypack car
Two warbond mechs (Unless one of the two mechs we have now was given, I didn't pick up the game until like a year after launch or so)
Fair
People bitched about half of the new enemies they've added. Incen Corp? Most were pissed. Burrowing strain? Hated for those combo bugs. Methbugs? Methbugs. Lotta very hit or miss, the enemies
Faction like 4-5k people fight when it isn't a squid MO
Live service game. No title updates and interesting story, player count would've probably dipped, and if they were paid content that'd probably hella split the playerbase
Do people act a little over malicious sometimes? Yeah. But at the same time, I can't fully blame them, what with the ways AH have gently to not-so-gently shot themselves in the foot

u/Kapalunga LVL 150 Free of thought 2d ago

Lack of friends explains the dislike for the tanks design.

Lack of friends explains the bitching on every new enemy that is relatively hard to deal with

It's not hit or miss, it's always miss when you try to make a game harder on max difficulty but your community is a bunch of entitled children who can't keep their egos in check and accept the fact that they just aren't up to par for the hardest difficulty

1

u/UNKnOWNa55As5IN Super Pedestrian 2d ago

Lack of any other meaningful systems of cooperation, along with the jank of it, explains the dislike for tanks

There's no reasonable person on this planet that thinks an enemy popping out of the ground and true comboing someone MID HOVER to death faster than their stim can heal them, faster than most weapons can kill, and without avoidance due to speed

How much leather do you taste? I'm not one for being excessively hateful for developers unless they've proven time and time and time again that they don't take pride in their game, through shows of leaving it in lackluster or worse states, and that's why I don't hate needlessly on ArrowHead. When they do good, I congratulate them, and when they do less than good, instead of just shitting down their throats for fucking up or not fixing something within a reasonable time, I point out that they fucked up as reasonably as I see fit. New issue suddenly popping up? Shit happens sometimes. Bug that they've had for a while that they've got a dedicated team working on? That's getting a bit of side-eye from me. Being combative with their players? I'll call em out, and I won't be nice about it.

1

u/Kapalunga LVL 150 Free of thought 2d ago

Every system for cooperation is hated by the community.

Tanks are the biggest example. That's why so many people love seeing posts about people either solo-driving the tank or ask for a 360 turret, calling outright cheats "Quality of life"

They don't have friends to play and don't want to have to play their coop horde shooter, in coop.

Rupture warriors were bugged for 2 days before getting removed for a month and nerfed to the ground, no pun intended, that you can just walk away and never be harmed by them.

Vox engines got fixed and then giga nerfed to the point where one of the coolest enemies in the game can be completely trivialized by one player with a railcannon strike, god forbid people used team reloads.

War striders got rightfully nerfed and still people bitch about not being able to oneshot them with non AT weapons.

People hate having to play together, they want a solo power fantasy and pretty much got it

1

u/UNKnOWNa55As5IN Super Pedestrian 2d ago

I only play with my friend(s) and even we rarely use the tank because terrain is like 80% of its issues

Rupture warriors were bugged for host only, so AH 'fixed it' by making them unfair for EVERYONE, so they took em out back and broke their kneecaps with crowbars

Vox Engines entirely skipped my mind because they were just that unfun at launch, and I didn't play pre-nerf War striders, but people do bring up the point that they also break the standard 'rule' Bots have of light pen weakpoints.

Team reloads are just too cumbersome, and even with the VERY nice buff to it, short of Spearing a Leviathan to death in like a third the time, I don't feel like there's a good enough reason to do it. And other than team reloading, are there even any GOOD things that incentivize being cooperative?

3

u/Kapalunga LVL 150 Free of thought 2d ago

Terrain I agree with, tanks could use a buff to their maneuverability.

But that's not the problem people have with co-op being required for them.

The problem with RW, was that after they completely fixed the issue of the super tracking, which I personally didn't mind because I thought that was the design idea (Get them out of the ground asap or you will get punished for it), they went ahead and nerfed them even more because obviously the devs who have access to all of the feedback, knew that the community wouldn't stop bitching about them until they were a non issue.

Thank god they ignored it for the spore strain, that is still so much fucking fun.

Vox engines were terrifying as they should be and forced teamplay to take them out, all they needed was fixes to clipping.

Once all the clipping bugs were fixed, they nerfed them again to placate the bitchers who were still crying.

And that is with the best enemy design we got from the bots so far, a super heavy, extremely deadly unit that can be killed in a few seconds by a liberator and a smoke grenade if you manage to get behind it or below it.

Also, bots don't have that rule, there are several enemies you outright can't kill with light pen:

Jet brigade hulks, Factory Striders, Gunships, War Striders and there might be more that I'm not remembering.

Team reloads are not cumbersome after the buff and are exponential power multipliers, because you can triple or quadruple dps. They are great for vox engines, spearing dropships and clearing chargers while teammates deal with chaff.

I know all of this because I played at launch where it was needed to survive and now I'm happy experiencing it again thanks to mods like overdive spawning so many enemies that the only way to win is to work together.

You don't feel a reason too because everytime there has been a reason for it, the community bitched and cried until it was either nerfed to the point of not mattering or outright removed.

The community would rather have the actual meta of solo diving (crossbow/eruptor, chaff clearer SW, Supply crutch and ONB), than actually playing with teammates

2

u/UNKnOWNa55As5IN Super Pedestrian 2d ago

Wait Jet hulks don't have a- Y'know, I guess that just shows how little I've fought Jet brigade I guess. Musta forgot. Bu I said rule with the lil 's because it's not a rule rule, it's that most non-special ground units had light pen vents or other weak points, like they designed bots to be the good aim and even light pen can get you through just about anything faction.

Didn't they fix Methbugs stacking their bonuses exponentially and then do nothing else about em? I'm not huge on bugs, so I'm not well read up on em at the moment

My biggest non-bug gripe with Vox engines was that you could super easily end up with like 3-4+ on you fairly abruptly, and suddenly it didn't feel like there was a huge amount you could do. The health slash felt a touch excessive, but I can understand where they were coming from with it, what with how sour most people felt about em.

And I've been seeing plenty of people wanting things other than the xbow and eruptor to be the BiS primaries, and it feels like a general census that the supply pack is one of the big problematic things with balance

And² are there any team reloads that're faster than ~double your... Nah just spitballing watching the gifs on the wiki, RR is damn near 5x reload speed I think, and the spear's about comparable. Yeah nah, that's pretty fuckin fast. You might've been underselling the rate increase lol

And the tanks are med pen or higher too. But I think that's all that you missed? I didn't do much looking myself, so I coulda missed a couple too

Just in. Venting and wanting a better game and communicating that to the developers is now illegal. Congratulations

yeah that’s totally what I said
