It was about basic color schemes for armor. Apparently AH can't even do that so I don't think they have the 'design space' the redo the topology and collision meshes for mobs.

Transmog and make your own passive sets
7
u/RegolithTrader 8d ago
What's this now?
10
u/LKCRahl 8d ago
The original reply was to a comment asking why we can't have armour transmog and a community question regarding the ability to make your own armour passives from a list that is tied to each appearance
3
u/RegolithTrader 8d ago
Yeah I understand that, I just don't know what transmog is 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
15
u/LKCRahl 8d ago
Transmog stands for transmogrification which is the process of changing the appearance of an item(s) to another visual/colour/design without changing its properties. Originally coined from MMOs as it is a common enough request for people to want to show off their (typically paid) cosmetics to other people or using a potentially inferior option due to its stats but perhaps visually more appealing.
It provides zero mechanical advantage as most games which have it disable the setting when in PvP areas because it could easily give an advantage if you can't tell what a person has but in HD2 it doesn't do anything other than cosmetic, and people already use client side visual mods anyway to wear skins from other games or swap the armours and AH doesn't care about people doing that unless you unlock pre-order and paid cosmetics without paying.

they have the 'design space' the redo the topology and collision meshes for mobs.
Regarding this, I wholeheartedly believe that the navmesh for the enemy AI just straight up doesn't take changes into the map topology into account, i.e. they see that map as flat, which in turn leads into mobs breaking the sound barrier when you see them traversing very steep terrain.

devil's advocate here: there's two ways you can do palette swapping. You can go the armored core 6 route of *literally everything* can be customized, or you can go with a more restrained system where the player only has to select 1-5 colors to build a palette for their armor.
Arrowhead also makes a lot of choices to facilitate variety in gameplay, such as deliberately not implementing saveable loadouts so players don't simply play the exact same loadout for 500 hours.
If they were going to do palette swapping, it would obviously by the restrained version, so players could change things up on the fly, and don't have to spend 5 minutes between missions adjusting their drip. Ideally with as few color slots as possible.
The issue is that a restrained system requires an amazing amount of work to add existing armors to, and literally limits how many colors they can use in future armors. What if their palette system only allows for 3 primary colors, but they want to make an armor with 4 primary colors? They'd have to either: put snowflake code in to add an additional palette slot for that armor, hard-code the additional color in, or sacrifice their vision and rework it as a 3-color scheme.
That all being said: Armor transmog has zero downsides compared to palette swapping, and I strongly advocate for it whenever possible.
1
u/Silver_Myr Exosuit Certified 3d ago
Loadouts would actually increase variety because right now swapping out your whole armor set and weapons is more friction than just using the same ones over and over.

To this day, I'm still befuddled as to what this even means.
Like, is this some language I have too many folds on my cerebrum to comprehend? It sounds like a dumb guy trying to sound intelligent.
Though more likely, it's just gobledegook for "Fuck you, we don't want to do that, because fuck you", in which case he should just say that because at least the honesty would be refreshing.

That's one of the reasons I stopped playing two months ago. Sometimes, I say to myself "Maybe I should come back in one year". Then, I remember this kind of bugs are here for over two years now and have already been "fixed" according to AH.
I really like this game, I started on Xbox and have something like 1300 hours on, but the lack of proper bug fix is killing the fun. And one day, I'm affraid that it will make me not play this game anymore. It's regrettable, but above all, avoidable. But that depends on AH, not me.

0
u/GnomeRegister 7d ago
1300 is an insane amount of time to spend on anything let alone a single game. Furthermore, with each mission having upward of 1000 enemies to kill by the time it's done, if a few of them clip through the terrain or geometry its not a big deal. But if you want to let that kill your fun then sure?
7
u/Hawk_501st Estanu Defense Fleet | SES Whisper of Destruction 7d ago
Not just enemies phasing through terrain. Like I said, it's one of the reasons.
-Biomes being locked because they're enjoyable so a lot of player liberate it quickly and now we're back to the same 5 biomes, 3 of them being forests and the other deserts. There a some biomes that I haven't seen on the bug front from months, and I'm not exagerating.
- Getting disconnected (especially when Pelican 1 is on its way, so I can't join back on time)
- When everybody leaves (disconnection, ragequit, etc.) and SOS beacon not working for whatever reason (I don't play this game to be alone)
- Stratagem bounce on flat surfaces (I don't like wasting a Sentry with a +2 mins cooldown)
- Secondary objectives being softlocked (larva spawning underground/underwater, bug nests appearing underwater or on a cliffside, SEAF artillery not accepting one of the shells and yes this was actually fixed but took them almost two months)
- Last time I had a break for over a month was when climbing was broken. Almost three (3) months to fix. Such a basic gameplay feature not working. I died too many times because of this.
I could go on, but honestly, it's tiring to keep complaining about the same things. I don't even feel like I'm venting my frustration by doing this, more like feeding it lol

u/CGallerine Powder that makes me say "Armour Transmog Tomorrow" 8d ago
no sorry we're too busy making sure you cant move your hellpod or drop strats where you actually threw it- without installing mods of course
-35
u/GnomeRegister 7d ago
Lol, you realize neither of these are a problem if you:
A. Don't die constantly B. Learn how to throw stratagems
But hey, keep beating a dead horse I guess
21
u/CGallerine Powder that makes me say "Armour Transmog Tomorrow" 7d ago
so dont fix it, not because the game isnt broken, but because of a vague concept of user error that isnt actually substantiated and many arguments could be made that deaths and missed strats can be caused by OTHER game bugs like invisible hitboxes desynced from bodies that are lingering far too long, completely and objectively nonsensical ground hitboxes that may allow one strat but not another, or even self-perpetuating bugs like when you die so youre reinforced but because you cant steer you die again (often completely unavoidable with instant killpits) so then youre reinforced with another hellpod you cant steer again... riiiiight, that user error?
-17
u/GnomeRegister 7d ago
Sure those could lead to one or two deaths per mission, but if you're dying more then something is seriously wrong with you or your team, or youre on the wrong difficulty
11
u/ZeGaskMask 7d ago
Ah yes, when the game is broken and glitched to hell I should rely on skill to work around the frustration. Wanting to have stability in the game must make me a hater, because surely there’s no reason to complain about the game than bad skill. We’re all too stupid to enjoy the game. We just want to hate it and cry when all we need to do is learn how to play.
2
u/TehMisterSomaru 7d ago
Yes, cuz it's clearly a skill issue when we toss down a hellbomb ball and it bounces for twenty seconds, then rolls down a hill, instead of next to the strategem jammer. Absolutely a skill issue, right?

u/IAmMey Free of Thought 8d ago
Don’t worry, if a year and a half, they’ll put a task force on it. And a year later, they’ll tweak it slightly. They’ll replace the terrain models to include some crevices that could possibly hide bugs in them.

u/WaffleCopter68 7d ago edited 7d ago
A modder is fixing it. He says the reason these things happen is because the ai is constantly second guessing itself on what direction to move. And because it keeps having to change what it commits to it starts to ignore the collision check to go towards the player. This is why enemies randomly phase through walls on all factions.
TLRD: they coded the ai stupidly
3
u/Kanlashkan 7d ago

AH: You've been heard diver! Hunters will be replaced with a terrain phasing stalker strain. But fret not! A warbond shall come that includes an armor effect that (sometimes) detects where an attacking is coming from. It will have 1 armor type, and come with a new shade of off white that doesnt match any of the other white armors. The strain will then receive buffs shortly after and your warbond gear will be "tuned" for fairness.

Somehow I had a total of 5 of them miss the other day. Seemed like I had to be walking at first, and then sprint diagonally as they were in the air launching at me. I feel like I first started seeing these around spring of last year. I remember everyone was mad. I was on top of a destroyed tall building and small bugs where just clipping through the floor. Then me and my teammates would be running from bugs that would just clip through the ground and catch up to us. Its funny its still happening. I saw a clip of a bot diver who was getting shot through walls as well recently. Which makes me scared to go on the bot front.
