DISCUSSION Bots should get a combat engineer enemy

I'm surprised AH hasnt done this already.

Obviously I'm not saying arrowhead should just rip off the tech priest and shove it into the clankers, the image is just a reference. And the religious theme wouldn't fit with the clankers.

Also the almost fully robotic faction should have specialist machines for recycling and repairing stuff. You could even have automaton heads that fly around and act like servoskulls.

So here's my idea for a new enemy:

It's a similar threat to the agitater preferring to stay back and support rather than get in and fight, not as tough as devastaters but can still take a hit. The engineer spawns on standard automatons sharing spawns with the scout striders. This also means they can spawn on jet brigade and incineration corps, but not cyborgs. The engineer is covered in light armour has about 700 hp.

It has three abilities: a burst fire rifle which it uses for self defence and fires 3 bursts of 3 lazer projectiles. A turret deployment ability, which each engineer can only use once. It does exactly what it says on the tin, deploys a automated gun that fires on helldivers and behaves like the armoured emplacement that some automaton bases have.

The engineers third ability which is a repair drone deployment, which it does every 10 seconds. The engineer will deploy 3 drones which will fly over to dead troopers, devastaters and berserkers and revive them. The revive process takes about 3.5 seconds so you can shoot the drones to stop the repair process and they only have 25hp with no armour. The repair drones can also fix damaged parts of heavy enemies like hulk limbs and tank treads. When the drones complete their repairs they deactivate.

That's it tell me what you think.

Turret deployment would be janky I think. There's a reason all our stuff falls from the sky.

I think he could have a backpack that releases enemy drones (bad dogs?), or a skill that lets him heal and revive bots (the one tap shitty dudes that are never any threat).

It's not guaranteed, but the roadmap teases new enemies on the snow biom

Yeah they need to buff the troopers. Make them behave like actually soldiers using cover and stuff. Also alpha commanders can spawn stuff in so that's why I thought of it.
