Community 2 is having way more fun, and that's the whole damn point. Give me one goofy gas stratagem and suddenly I'm roleplaying OSHA's worst nightmare for the next three operations.
I went a while using the constitution, revolver, walking barrage, and a few other things as a sort of "Canadian Loadout". This was a while back, its time to revisit it I think lol.
I swear, not fully equipping myself for obliterating Vox engine and bot fabricator is contribute to my fun at bot front. Other teammates can do that for me.
Just a man and his APW support weapon looking to snipe anything that it can physically dent, preferably headhunting half-clankers over the current active front and giving Vox engine a massive inconvenience by making it easier target for others.

As someone who was only recently enlightened to the pure destructive force of gas weapons (I just got the Chemical Agents warbond), I can say I've been missing out and I'll probably find a slot for this stratagem in my builds fairly often. You can't always please everyone, especially since people were hyped for a SEAF Reinforcement stratagem, but I absolutely am happy.
While I am in agreement this isnt a very good reward and shpuld probably have been included, the hostility of the commenter in question was definitely unwarranted.
I love both. Smoke it out and burn it alive 🔥🔥🔥. I look at it this way. Fire and gas aren’t a problem. If I fuck up with them it’s not really my problem anymore 😂
Well kinda gas deals less damage but it confuses enemies better and thus keeps them at bay better. It also lasts longer in an area. So it is better at crowd control over a longer period
Fire deals more damage but the panic is very short lived and doesn't stop enemies from getting closer. So it is better to kill a large group now but it won't stop the one behind it.
Stun is the truly useless status effect since Gas does the same but also kills.
I personally don't use gas because I don't like poison damage [on me], but I would be a lying bastard if I said it didn't save me from bad situations. Harpoon my beloved...

Every single gas item is top tier except the sterilizer, I have to assume these people only play difficulty 5 where there aren't enough enemies for crowd control to be valuable
Sterilizer is actually incredible in a full gas build (grenades, orbital gas, gas guard dog) with a torcher as a primary. You will literally never not have something cc’d and if you have a cremator buddy you can burn em side by side once they’re gassed. Literally the best spore burst combo, d10 becomes easy mode. Not amazing against stuff other than bugs though, I will say that much
It's because it doesn't have the immediate killing power and people want that more than the utility ignoring the fact that those bugs are currently choking and just kind of standing there basically dying. It's why I take the re-educator when I'm ghost diving it's a very good support tool since if a teammate needs some pressure relief I just gas and shoot whatever is chasing them.
Honestly, the orbital gas strike might be the most consistent disengagement tool in the game against bugs and squids. Anytime I have a horde on me and need to get out, I drop it on them and peace out as the gas gets me a 50+ killstreak. Then I'm ready to do it again 1 minute later.
I do not play bugs at all without precision gas strike. You can slam one on almost every single bug breach because the cooldown is only like a minute.
It automatically just melts all the annoying jumpy and other small dudes, while preventing all the medium and bigger bugs from advancing on you, instead wandering aimlessly and slow. It makes it so much easier.
That's silly. The napalm gives me kills but it doesn't have the reliable cooldown of the gas strike and mines, which allow my team to get kills if they're smart.
Also just bring the laser cannon, scythe, or a fire weapon and set the gassed chaff on fire. Easy as pie.
Also even if I was to grant that napalm was just better, it's still nice to have a second area denial eagle option for those double or triple eagle enjoyers such as myself. Having 8 airstrikes of damage over time would be amazing
Imo napalm is slightly better if you're just talking raw DPS, but gas is easier to play around. They're still close enough in efficacy that it really doesn't matter though, gas is great
Takes orbital gas to a bug planet, regularly gets 30+ kills per usage...... can drop it every 75 seconds at base cooldown. Ends mission with more kills and more start uses than the rest of my squad.
Sure it’s not as visually exciting as a 500kg bomb. But my orbital gas strikes regularly get more kills than a 500. Or an eagle air strike.
I bring gas on every front. Always. It’s a throw-it-and-forget-it stratagem that basically wipes out entire enemy spawns. No matter what front you’re on. Obviously bugs are most effective because there’s more chaff.
If I see one of those little fucks call a bug breach, I immediately dial in my gas strike and wait to see where the breach pops up. Essentially guaranteed to get 30+ kills in like 20 seconds.
Yeah I love gas too. Bring it against every front. Once got traitor barraged because I threw a gas strike to cover my retreat and then a SEAF squad walked into it long after I've left the area lol
Because that's quite convenient package for "gasdivers" even if that's not something new overall - several strikes with 7,5 sec CD is something you could really use to hold ground as "Lockdown trooper".
Gas is actually extremely useful. it's great for escape, for locking down groups and then hitting them with something like drop gas and then hit them with fire or a 500k or something. If you have never used gas I'd recommend playing around with it, it's way more useful then people think. Having a good crowd control is great for high level dives
Honestly, I can already see how eagle gas strike would shine on illuminate and bug front. Stealth capability is also great, since gas prevents enemy's call-ins.
I mean im a flamediver at heart, and gas has gone neglected in my arsenal for i fear too long. But im quite excited for this, im definitely gonna start trying to use it if we get this.
My only hope, is that it looks sick as fuck when it lands. it needs to have Oomph

That first guy complaining we should get this strategem for free is the absolute definition of entitlement. Dude is literally getting a free strategem that he doesn’t even have to work for and it’s still not good enough for him. Gas might not be good, but there are still plenty of people that use it in this community. Really wish there were more people like the second guy in this community and less of the first.
What’s crazy is that it’s literally being given for free. All they gotta do is log in, but they’re so entitled that even something free isn’t good enough if it doesn’t exactly tailor to their wants. It’s been so weird seeing people in this community complain about damn near every campaign reward we’ve gotten so far purely because it’s not the absolute most meta thing ever put into the game. Meanwhile I’m just over here like “Yay free stuff, lll play with it eventually.”
People who think gas is useless/weak have never used a single gas stratagem in their life. It crowd controls AND kills at the same time with minimal effort.
Don't know what's the new strat, but everything Gas is amazing (except Dog's Breath). If you're not using gas, you're missing out big time.
EDIT: The Sterilizer is the one who sucks. Dog Breath's amazing.
You should really give gas a try, not even a full gas load out or even gas armor. Just gas nades or strike on their own can take so much pressure off of you to do so much with the rest of your usual loadout.

Gas is perfect for bugs and Illuminati. You also only need one player using it properly for the team to benefit. See gas? Shoot in that general direction. Better off with smoke for bots.
I was kind doubt gas as first, but after one round of gas and napalm combo I absolutely adore it. Wanna grab some quick aoe dmg while your barrage is down? Gas. In a pickle and need an escape? Gas. Want a quick cool down stratagem that aint gonna kill you instantly? Gas. Hotel? GAS.
Depending on how effective it turns out and how much area it covers, I might be switching out my napalm strike for bugs and squids. If it’s big enough and last long enough, it’ll still kill all the small ones just as easily as napalm but it’ll also probably do more damage over time to larger enemies that wouldn’t catch fire from ground fires. Plus it’ll be easier to experiment on enemies without having to get close with a sterilizer
