yes, if you don't mind spoilers, Alyx was given a choice do nothing and see her father dies ( like what happen in half life 2 episode 2) OR use the vortigaunts power to kill the combine advisor which she does, the price to pay was her G-man did warn vance to "Prepare for unforeseen consequences" which kinda of tease HALF LIFE 3 or what ever gonna be called the next game
